Blydenstien recommends nova gte cams on 1.3s, superb little engines when done right!

There's a 1.6 GTE B+ (big valve) Head on ebay at the moment, anyone know if this'll fit the 1.3 block?
Are Blydenstien still trading? |

| Think Bill has given up but passed it on to someone else.
the 1.6 head will fit. offers bigger valves anyway & a small bump in CR IIRC.
A GTE cam will be easy to come by, Ive got 3 (cough) |

| Many moons ago my bro built a 1.3 engine for his missus nova, at the time there was actually a race series for them and managed to find out what worked best whilst keeping you wallet fairly full.. ended up using a 1.3 block with 1.2 pistons, very high compression, and a very early 1.2 head B reg i think (best flowing), gte cam, locked vacuum advance, lightweight flywheel vernier pulley etc...with a dmtl 32/34 carb.....
ive still not driven anything like it ,it was just under 110 bhp but my astra gsi could only just kep up.
A local guy set it up and said if he had run 40's (not practical at the time) it would have made around 130+, also the compression was a tad to high, and restriced how much advance could be used, and we were never brave enough to find out at what rpm is stopped pulling!
A friend of mine i met through vscc had a mk2 astra, with a stage 4 head and cam + 40's on his 1.3, which was revving at over 9k on a stock bottom end for 4 years, and it gave my mates old astra 200ts a good run for its money upto 100mph. |

| The method posted by VXLgsi is a good way to getting good power from these engines.
You would want to lower the CR slightly though to run pump fuel. |

| yeah you will have problems with the irmi one fitting, also, you need to add to the head or headgasket to lower compression, not the other way round |
