| Good to see your back! As said previously by someone, it was your red 1.6 16v that inspired me originally, after the belgium PNG trip, where you stopped at a petrol station en route and cleaned your car whilst others re-fuelled Still got the TV poster of your old motor up at the workshop, I'm sure the sport will be just as good

I'm glad the original red Nova inspired people, I was originally contemplating a 2.0l engine until my dads mate (who rallied Nova's) convinced me to opt for the 1.6 16v. Seeing his Bowyer powered rally car go made the descision alot easier!! It's good that people like yourself and Lee Hearsey etc are still opting for what I believe to be the ultimate engine / chassis combination...

| Just a quick update (this rebuild stuff is so time consuming )
This is the general state of most of the engine components, nasty
Prepped:
After a respray and service:
End plate prepped:
End plate primed and painted:
I've had to set up some shelving in the gym to accommodate the bits I've done so far!!
(The girlie weights belong to the missus - honest! )
I've bought an original Nova Sport back box from Ashley too, I'm on the lookout for a cheap set of original carbs / airbox, oh, and any 1.3 tuning goodies (anyone?)
Ready to start stripping the engine now, more updates to follow...

| Damn thats impressive.
I assume you spray in an area thats nice & warm? I dont struggle to get good results but this time of year Ive no chance of getting spray work looking like that.

| Yeah, spraying in this cold weather is a b1tch. You'll notice the electic heater in some of the pics, I also have a gas fire to warm the environment. I warm the spray cans before spraying too. The key to a good spray job is the preparation. |

| Just a quick update, I've stripped the engine down this weekend. I hope to get the block, head and cam housing acid dipped or bead blasted sometime soon. Then I shall put it all back together again replacing oilseals, gaskets etc (maybe a bit of light headwork and a performance camshaft if the budget allows!?) |

Cheers pal, I will see how mine cleans up before I take you upon the offer, many thanks though
I phoned Sutton Rebore this morning, they have a chemical dip and would charge around £80 to do the block, head, cam housing and sump. They also have some useful machining capabilties, lightening and balancing, refacing, skimming etc.
I'll keep and eye out for that book you mentioned too.
Cheers. |

| Craig, didn't bother with the dip in the end, just plenty of GUNK and a wire-brush on the drill.
Came up pretty good tho!
Used Hermitite engine paint, don't know if they still make it, it was an old tin my dad had kicking about.
