| Rs1,, thanks for the feedback.
i will be running E85 fuel and it needs about 40% bigger injectors than on regular fuel.
And there arent any good 1200cc injectors on the market.
And i got a 'fetish' for non american stuff., my injectors are Bosch

| Ah yeah E85, that explains it.
I seen a x22 block just recently, it had almost.....open deck, have you had some kind of inserts made add strength as yours does not look like the x22 i seen. I heard this is a weak spot on the 22 block.

| yes i have made two mods to get the deck more stable.
if you browse around in my photobucket you´ll find some pics of it.
You can say i have filled the block with concrete from the deck and 10mm down
and underneeth there are some 'girdlescrew' to keep it together too.
this is an old trick in the tuning book,, they used to use this screws on old 'yanks' before they started to cast more stable block(merlin, dart etc etc) |

| today i have sorted the loom in the enginebay to look better, i did also cut away a lot of unused cables to get 'smoother look'
then i went away to a friend and bought his brand new oilcooler that didn´t fit his car(corrado)
but it did fit mine perfectly.
piccies:
I used 'hockey tape', the kind of tape you tape your blade on your stick.
Now when the oilcooler stis on top of watercooler i can start weld up som brackets for the whole cooling system.
Cheers... |

| Excuse my ignorance, but how on earth did you fit the toyota gearbox to the engine, did you get a bell housing made up to do it?
But going awesome as well.

| Mattcoup,,
Well,, i made an 'adapterplate' in between engine and gearbox.
8mm thick, you can see it on pics if you look closer.
then i milled off 8mm from gearbox to get the correct measurement for clutch etc etc.
but.. i can´t recomend this mod to guys with their thumb in the middle of the hand.
there are lots of mods, and it aint easy to figure them all out.
but, if somebody is willing to do the job, i´ll help him.
Will go much faster now as i know what to be done.
example: the belt for the alternator suddenly went into the 'beam' under the strut at ht right side.
so i did some massaging on the beam.
this was because i couldnt tilt the engine in the same angle as standard as the transferbox would then be inside the engine *lol*
so,, all new enginebrackets,, etc etc etc..
nothing left alone...
but now it´s done

| Thanks again for the response.
today there are no pics just yet. i have forgotten the phone every time i went down to the garage.
but what´s been done,,,
Brackets on IC for the watercooler
Started to weld close the std outlet from IC but ran out of material.(there will be a new outlet from IC slightly higher up as it wanted the the same space as the water outlet on watercooler.)
Have been modifying the tank to accept hydraulic couplings with 1/2 inch diam at the inside..
Repaired one seatbracket for my recaro´s.
right at the moment i will be rerouting the 'plasticpipe' with a new one in stainless and a new routing as it wanted the same space as the clutchwire..
There´s no end of the mods.. *LOL*
piccies later today or tomorrow.

Also look like he's machined the end of the cam cover to get rid of the lip.....very swish mod
Awesome work Patrick, some real effort went into this |

Yes as Rs1 says there are a whole lot missing.
and as for the campulleys arent there, it´s because the head is empty, no valves no nothing.
I´m waiting for the retainers for my double valvesprings to arrive from Sbdev,, not today either.
but in the meantime i try to fabricate all brackets and stuff for coolers and yada yada yada.
some piccies of todays work:
Oilcooler, fits perfectly underneeth the 'panel'
Tested to hook up the turbo just to have a picture in my mind, so i can go around and have ideas for the piping. sort of 'melt it in into the brain',, well you know
tested to build an 3" downpipe a little fast,, no problems just yet, but my fuelpump should be right where the std servopump on astras is located, might run in to problems, but i think i have a plan for that.
Then i mounted back the prepped tank(no pics)
and then mounted the propshaft.(no pics)
Tomorrow i´ll try to make brackets for oilcooler for the gearbox.
Have a cold one fellas....

| Good progress. What turbo did you go for in the end, as i thought you changed your mind and went for a slightly smaller one than you had?
Still looks uber tight at the cambelt end, but i'm not up on XE/LET nova's.
Water pipe mod looks good, but do you really need a heater, lol. |

Actually this turbo is slightly bigger in capacity than my old one.
even thou this one has smaller outer measurements.
The old turbo had capacity of ~620-630hp
GT3582r can produce almost 700Hp, have seen 697hp at it´s most.(with 1.06 exhaust)
And just yesterday an Audi S2 received 677 hp(0.82 exhaust) with an exactly the same setup on turbo as i got now.
I´m waiting for my Tial Exhaust house also,, might get som more than 677hp if were really lucky., as the tial exhausthouse flows better than Garrett std.
In astra MkI´s there are really tight at the cambelt side. but no worries.. it fits.
Ofcourse i need an heater,,,,, it´s cold at night when the streetracing occurs... |
