Now my friends a really shocking story!!!!



I was in the mood to put my engine together the other day this week.
Well it all went fine until i was about to mount rods and pistons.

I looked at the bottom of the shelf where i have put them in a box nice and all in order.
No box!!!!!

WTF????

felt the adrenaline rising as i started to remember that my girlfriends youngest son helped me to clean out the garage for about 2 month´s ago.
I had told him to get rid of all the boxes 'in that area' (pointed with my finger)
And behind all those empty boxes my box with pistons and rods were lying.
For some reason my 'stepson'(word?) had throwed that one away too.
the value of that garbage went up to about 1600quid... *shock*

well,, that whole evening was totally in shock,, how the fOOOOck can i be so stupid to order a 14 year old boy to clean out 'that area'????
It was almost time to put a rope around my neck,,, (just kiddin,, but almost)
I cannot get angry at my stepson either..

so i just bite my lips and buy new ones...

well,, the one to blame is me.
The boy´s got a diagnose of 'ADHD' and he does exactly what i tell him, he doesn´t use his brain at all.
he´s like almost 'remotecontrolled'
The truth is that he doesn´t dare to do anything different that i tell him, he´s afraid to do something wrong.
In this case, he did just right, i told him to do this...

So the one to blame is me, i can´t even mention this to him as he would sink way low on selfesteem.

I have new rods at home already and the new pistons are ordered from the states.
This time i alter the setup a little.
It´s going to be 158mm long rods and special CP-pistons with very very low compression hight.
I Want to be able to rev the machine this time.
The last setup was a little bit too much of the good.. the lowgrunt just separated my gearbox between the pinion and crownwheel.(twice)
you know,, ~96mm stroke and full boost at 2800rpm is insane.
The toyota case couldn´t just keep the gears together *lol*

So now it´s a big mixup this engine.
Volvo Rods
Honda pistons(modified)
X22XE crank/block
C20LET head with peugeot MI16 valves.
diesel oilsquirters for the pistons
Z20LET oilpump
BMW M3 throttles

Really fun for a guy to rebuild my engine if i sold it *lol*

What volvo has 158 conrods?
I have some 149 with 24mm pin for subaru pistons i gonna use,
we had them specially made, the H beam is 3mm

Good to hear this is back on track. Very complicated and compact exhaust manifold and the tial housing is very swish.
You gonna give this build its chance on a full map with full boost or you gonna launch it down the road like a mad man and break it again

My mate is dabaling with 2.2/2.3's just to see what there like, should be fun

Rs1, 2.08bar last year was full boost
it wasn´t capable of more *lol*
Fuel amount i gave it was worth 768hp
but i drove it a little bit rich, so say about 710-730hp maybe.

it was a beast anyway, full boost at 2800rpm

Full boost at 2800rpm sounds good, must of made for a really nice drive....if not a bit brutal as thats some serious power estimations
What kinda of mileage did you manage before it lunched itself?
Also what kinda torque setting did you use on the head studs/nuts?

Yeah, now when i can crank it up, i will.
with the GT3582r turbo the wastegate was closed at all times *lol*

It never lunched itself.
i just tooked it apart to make som updates, oilpump,oilsquirters etc etc.

As i´m using M12 studs for the head i´m torque them 130Nm
I also use pianowire to make sure the seal is 100% at full boost.

As for the lunching itself comment i thought you it had dont the big ends or mains, maybe a different build.....can't keep up with who's doing what these days
