Shame about your mates engine.
Yeah there definatly some valves thats are a bit suspect, the ones in Rick Drapers last build didn't even get through final mapping without breaking. I try to stick to QED valves.
Steveboyslim is the dude to speak to for pistons and it'll be worth asking him about valves while you on.

Steve sorted my valves from Paul Ivey iirc or someone like that. I had autosprint valves in my let and they did not last long, 3 pulls on the rolling road and one started to fail. Right load of **** imho, it was false economy as i saved about £100 on the valves and it cost me about £400 at least.

we´re trying to rebuild it, but i´ve got a couple of questions for you guys.

First,, are there any 'bad quality valves' on the market in UK?
Theese ones were stainless 34/30mm valves and they were bought from UK.
And second, are there any reseller of JE-pistons that you might know of, that sells pistons one on one, not a complete set?

Yes they have touched the pistons, probably why they wen´t off.
but ordinary valves only get 'krooked'

We are running 34kg seatpressure on the valvesprings, BUT!! when dynoing the engine the at the time ran stdsprings(24kg) didn´t take the pressure at all above 7k rpm´s
Now when he changed the springs and rised the rpmlimit to 7500rpm the engine blew..

They might have taken some damage at dyno.

I just made an adapterplate between opelhead and BMW throttles, piece of cake actually.
you just have to portmatch them together afterwards.
In my case i had to port the bodies, i think you have to port the head to fit.

i run quite big runners in head
(51x31mm at inlet)

The gains i´m after is to smoothen out my lumpy idle.
And i might get a little more flow as these ones taper more correctly than my old manifold.
But the big reason is to get more drivability.

Bad luck on those valves, for peace of mind maybe Paul Ivey or REC valves would of been better but I still firmly believe the one that failed in Ricks was simply down to something other than a poor quality valve.

I personally thought the heads snapping off was quite normal on a set of wasted valves as they are obviously weak in that area, especially if they take a hit from the piston.

Actually when i think of it,, there´s nothing special about the engine.

it runs at 2.4bar of boost, so there´s good flow through the head.
Revlimit at 8500rpm.

Bring it round James, we use the Novas GT4088 and the 1200cc squirts on the Audi lmaolmaolmao
add a set of rods for safety we should see 765 PUB BHP lmao

A little update:



These are bodies from BMW E36 M3
They measure 50mm in diam. and almost fits perfect on my head.
I´ll just manufacture an 10mm adapterplate between head and manifold.

Thats a nicely specced S2 engine! Obviously works well if its making nearly 900 hp!!
