Sorry but i dont mean to be sceptical but thats faster than a Bugatti Veyron 0-60 and faster than a lot of other super cars along the way(zondas, gt1's). IMHO it just aint happening. Might feel that fast but as much as would love to think a vauxhall/opel is doing them sort of times it just aint. Its only a 600 bhp motor which is ****all when you look at the power of most marques (evo's, fords etc). Take simon Norris's SWB evo 0-60 in 2.4-2.69 seconds running around 880 or so bhp.

Or wwere those times brought to us by accurist lmao

If you take this video(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GjczCE0Qdak) and calculate the seconds between clutchrelease and when going to third gear, you got 4 seconds... and when almost toched the revlimiter at 7800rpm my car is going ~76Mph
subtract a couple of tenth´s of a second and you´ve got 3.7-3.8seconds.
and that with a VERY VERY silly start.... listen to the vid...

now when running 1.73bar the car is having more power than in the vid(1.33bar)
and i tested a REAL banzaistart,no chicken here.
i´ve got 2.7s with wheelspin in 1st and 2nd.

and for verifying:
a friend of mine runs the General Lee audi.
and with his 2nd engine when car was still black he had about 600hp and got 0-60 in 2.1s on unprepped tarmac but with BF goodrich dragradials. that is a fact!

Why should i be so much slower than him?
i got more power and less weight to put in movement.

and as for comparing 'normal' cars against bugatti etc etc is just lame.
those cars aren´t made for hard acceleration from 0, often they run over 60mph already at 1st gear.
that means it´s really difficult to launch, engine bogs easily or spins wildly.

and why shouldn´t a Vauxhall/Opel be capable?
is this only a region for overtuned Evo´s?

Another friend of mine runs a Audi S2 unlightened with 573Whp, this car runs 1.52 in 60ft at the strip.
That car weights 3306 pounds
my car weights 2623 pounds
we got almost the same amount of power, and for those who know how to calculate acceleration from 60ft knows what i´m talking about.

Norris evo only gets 2.4-2.69 times and thats with 880 odd bhp and its old hollinger sequential gearbox. Thats stripped out, shortened and caged.

read once again what i wrote.

i said it didn´t impress ME that much, that means it impresses me, but not THAT very much.. it isn´t god´s gift to mankind,,(every man has his rights of his own thinking)
If you look at the launch in the vid someone posted here in this thread, that launch is crap in my eyes. a lot to improve there. just a lucky shot it seems.the shortest way between two points is a straight line, in that run Norris sure ran 405.33meters *lol*

and a seq gearbox will help you get faster shifting, but there are people that shiftes gears just as fast with normal H-pattern.

In racing my car for a couple of years ago i shifted my F28 gearbox in only 0.11s and that is logged value on g-forces.(g-force stop to g-force gain again between gears)

it is used almost daily, but with a tuninglevel like this engine i have to take it easy the most of the time.

Sorry if I came over that way but Simons Evo IS ballistic, ok it may not "look" like its getting off the line that well but in reality it was, obviously he has took steps to sort the launching out by putting the engine in line.

As Rick said lay some times down then we'll all be more convinced.

Great spec though and I'm loving the different approach to everything

the reason norris cant get better times is because he cant put that 880BHP to the ground at all. watch the vids on youtube, the car just spins like mad. if he could get it to grip the times would be mental.

To be fair that Audi was prep'd to run 1/8 or 1/4 mile with some quality tyres, the escos and evo were pretty much in road going trim....as they are 99% of the time. Given a longer run i think the evo would pass the audi, the escos would be a close run aswell.
The evo was in its old guise a bit **** to get off the line, often jumping a few feet sideways before heading down the strip, i'm not sure what the probelm was as the ams evo's dont seem to have half the probs Norris did with the same engine/trans layout.
The current Norris evo should be even more of a weapon that the old, grip wont be a problem this time me thinks.

both norris and reylands show you dont need to have a V10 (ect) engine to put down very fast times.
it shows that a 4 pot motor can still show them uo

Guys dont forget that insane is running on ethanol (or methanol or whatever whiscy he is using in his gas tank) so he has instant 15% bonus over regular pump gas engines

Don't forget that most big power engines run on race fuel too to make the massive numbers you read about

They still make BIG numbers on SUL but for the number chasers its all about the octane
