Had a bit of a mad moment at the begining of November and decided to buy a Cavalier Turbo. So a quick trawl of the sites turned up a black L-plate on VXON. Few phone calls and a deal was done. so early one morning it was off to Edinburgh airport for an early morning SL-easyjet flight to London Stanstead. A quick trip on the train and I arrived at Swiss Cottage. Few checks later and the car was in suprisingly good condition with very very little rust.
Once back the car went in for its MOT (it had failed its MOT on emmissions). New lambda sensor fitted full service and some injector cleaner in her and she scrapped through the MOT (the car is chipped....more on that later).
After driving her for a few days I decided that there were a few jobs needing done, so a quick trip to the parts department and we were ready to go:
Full suspension rebuild.....it came apart dead easy....honest
all new fluids and a few other bits done and it was off to Wallace Performance for a rolling road session with Russ. After changing the actuator for a Courtenay item the initial run revealed that the car was chipped but running rich. So throwing the amal valve to the side a Dawes Device was fitted, a few tweaks and the chip was a lot happier and the power delivery was a lot better (there had been a big noteicable drop at 3k which is now gone).
I now have a FMIC sitting to go on before going back up to see Russ for some Evo 5 software.
In addition the suspension is now down -30mm with Bilstein dampers and awaiting new brakes that aside the car is basically ready to go. PLanning to do a few trackdays with the first being Knockhill on the 17th of December. Oh and apparently the car may have been bought by the previous owner from C20LETMINI on here.
