If I ain't earning it - I'm spending it!!
It wasnt going to bad but to be honest i never really pushed, i was not out of my comfort zone at anytime so thats what cost me the time. The car is very capable in the class i need to take some more risks and push a bit more, mind you i keep thinking of the re shell and i dont fancy that again.
Great thread fellas.
Wish i had documented as we just took the odd photo along the way which just isnt enough.
If you dont mind me crashingb your thread, heres a a few of our car. Did my first rally last weekend down at pembrey circuit, it was a shock to the system with the pace of the 1400's, we had a fantastic day until stage 5 when our engine went pop! Ouch.
We ran completely standard engine exept for twin 40 webers, standard box, no power steering, standard front brakes, golf calipers at the rear so its kind of woken me up to the fact that you have to spend to be a bit competitive.
Love your car though, very nice job indeed.

Wanted: Corsa GSI Front bumber
Rufio your car looks really good is it Marcus's old 1400? just look familiar,
If you run a standard engine best thing you can do is put ARP's in the bottom end, when you start to get the cash together dont waste money go straight to Bill Falconer the blokes spot on and if you go the clubman route you wont be dissapointed.
Mines getting prepped ready for North West Stages on 20/21st Feb using Blackpool prom amongst others.
Changed from Pagid blue RS5 to RS14 greys as the blues are knacked after 200 miles and at £120 a pair its getting exspensive.
Got a standard set of clocks took the speedo out and put a Racetech rev counter in and using a Tom Tom for the speedo.
Hey Kev
Cheers the car was built from scratch by me and my dad in his garage so thanks for the comment, it took around 3.5 years all in and has not been easy at all but we got it finished in the end. We actually fitted ARP bolts and we are unsure of why the engine just didnt last one rally although it was out of a road going corsa with 90 odd thousand on the clock so that could be the answer.
Anyway we have got hold of another 14xe and will leave her standard until i learn to drive properly. Never been involved in motorsport, been a fan of rallying since the age of zero so at 27 im learning late.
Have you been competing for a few years then mate?
Were the impreza calipers a difficult job to fit, what model are they off?
Sorry about all the questions dude.

Wanted: Corsa GSI Front bumber
No prob with the questions thats why we have forums
I see youre on Rally forum too excellent site for info.
First engine i had put a rod through the block 100k plus might have been the reason
Im at the ripe old age of 40 and have been involved in rallying since i was 18started servicing then co driving then driving in a 309 Pug then Nova and now Corsa.
I was quite fortunate with the calipers my mate bought a set of 4 pots from Hockly's and i had the mounts copied to suit the Impreza 4 pots as the calipers are the same as Hockly's just different piston size.
Cool, looking to fit uprated brakes to ours but not sure which route to take, saw your impreza calipers and thought they looked like a good idea.
Will keep an eye on your updates, always good to see. Hopefully will bump into you n a rally in the future, have you done epynt before, would love a run over the ranges in the corsa!
Wanted: Corsa GSI Front bumber
Been over Otterburn many times but Epynt is on the to do list, only problem is that the local knowledge is very difficult to compete against.
How did you get on today? I was at the old ici plant.
Hope you have had a good day. I certainly have![]()
First prom drove like a tart and thought the bonnet pins were out as our lights were all over the place, put clips for pod back in and thought that was sorted.
Second prom set off within 500 yds was slowed by marshalls as BMW was changing wheel when we got past put my foot down and the lampod was flapping in the wind got to stage end lost a load of time. Gaffer taped applied and off to Weeton.
First Weeton drove like a tart lights all over the place after hitting to barrles with a slight overshoot.
Second Weeton thought i heard a knocking noise on front left set off flicked through a left right and the wheel departed game over.
Wont be doing NW or Weeton again :-(
One to forget then eh mate? you said you didn't like the event!!
rob
If I ain't earning it - I'm spending it!!
I did say that Rob and i do hate the event and Weeton, the stages are not tarmac they are a mixture of holes and gravel with speed bumps and some ocasional tarmac.
So 106 started and only 47 finished which shows how hard it is on the cars, never mind getting car ready for Crail on March 14th.
Parts required
bell mounts
discs
pads
drive flanges
wheel bearings
wheel studs
shaft
I reckon around £700 ;-(
Must have missed the impreza caliper bit. More gen... basically you're using scooby 4pots with what discs, and some custom brackets?
