i had a c20xe nova on full coilovers front and rear.
I still prefer the handling of the C16XE
Rob
I've had both, I'm with rob on this one
not got a problem with that!
An ideal situation would be to run your car then dump an let in up the front poundage on the springs and go again!
Simps.
lol, seems alot of work! ideally two identical cars bar the engines and spring rates, but whatever, both drivers would be having fun and thats the main thing!
Ben... I have shafts and mounts for a BB conversion, still have the LET too.. so it is preety much 'whack it in' I also have the C20XE to whack in too... I will be stich welding everything! I'll be honest before I wanted straight line speed as much as cornering! ATM i'm concentrating on the Chassis then will go from there. As it stands at the moment I will have a 20XE for sale along with the C20LET! I'm looking into the Z18XE atm. Will run it on ITB's and of course stand alone. a C/X16XE is also in the equation! I'm not that worried about the engine ATM as the 1600 in it will be enough to have fun on the track!
Yesterday at brands hatch showed me even more that less power, more balls and better cornering is better. I was one of, if not the quickest car of the day (it was a novice day) my mate has a 350bhp scooby and only pulled away on the straights, corners I was all over his behind, they blue flagged him to let me past! Unfortunetly the budget tyres and 15k miles with 3 trackdays took there toll and the rubber is getting quite low and as I don't want to buy new rubber yet ended it early.

just found a great video to show the difference in handling and straight line ability, elise vs veyron! enjoy!
http://www.fastdrive.org/1/p/car-vid...?view.825.0.25
seen that before! Shows ya! Although Bugatti dont take the best lines. still

sooo fast though![]()
do you not get brake fade on them standard 1.0 brakes?lmao
straight line
It's like some block with an M5 at brands yesterday. Braking halfway down the straight lmao rapid until then though!

I don't quite see what that video proves. A guy driving the elise who knows what lines to take and the limits of the car and a veyron being driven by my nan! lmao
I know the point you're making tho.
People do judge what they see on a trackday a bit too much imo. There so many variables. 1st time drivers, 1st time on circuit, never really pushed their car before etc.
So have you got the XE in there already Mr Fly?
Simps.
ATM the car is powered by honda... not really just daw it on an ariel atom today. It is powered by a C16SE 100bhp of fun![]()

i've been thinking about a trackday car for ages but insurance would kill me since i've been thinking along the lines of nova xe or astra GTE. Exactly how good is the nova? obviously handling is going to be ****e atm but whats the speed like? will you be at coombe next year?
would there be any major benifit from fitting a standard 1.6 16v compared to a standard 1.6 8v (mpi obviously)?
a stripped base model nova with 16se conversion with basic mods such as filter, manifold and system, lowered on some 15s will be a very, very useable street/track weapon.
you'd be shocked at it's nippyness. mine lived on it's limiter for 10k miles and upset a hell of a lot of RST's, clio 16v's, etc cars with 60 times of about 8 seconds it cleanly pulled on.

For comparison:
Doge5644 owns a 2.0 16v corsa SRi and the nova 1.6SE (100bhp) can give it a good go. (we've only played in first second!
I will be at castle coombe again next year, hopefully in this rather than the coupe![]()

when i'd GUTTED the inside of my nova it was silly quick for 93bhp lol
