Got a carbon fibre one. however as it's so on and off atm i've decided to leave it off for now.

Heard the engine idling for a few seconds today. Piston slap FTW yo. Got one issue to sort (common sensor earth fault?) as air/coolant temp and TPS aren't picking up. Bought a new sensor at SBD today and still nowt

Re: Spanishfly's Track Nova and Coupe Turbo

It runs... although I have to start it quick as ECU still goes funny on earths after 5 seconds.
Although this is the least of my worries.
Head gasket is foobared... number 4 is spitting out water. Got a little video... it got worse too, I had to use the window wipers.
Car WON'T be at Germany, lost interest and going to leave it a while. I want the car on the road so much, but my rash decision making tells me to break it for parts and get a vx220.
May try whip the head off some point during the week. Also need to find out if that tapping is lifter shimming or head piston contact.
Feel more upset now than when I had the fire.

**** me rob that sounds like a pneumatic drill...

What gasket is it on? How come its ****ed so soon, was new at the rebuild wasnt it?

I am looking at VX220T's. You can get them for a decent price now. Or even buy a VX220 2.2 and drop a Z20LEH into it...

dont give up on it mate, came back so far since the fire, just think of it as a minor set back, surely the noise cant be head - piston noise as it would of bent the valves and wouldnt run?

Yeah been looking at Vx's for awhile, even after the fire. Also Elises. Head gasket was reused. I need to investigate it all.

Yeah that's my thoughts. Matt J had an issue like that and it was piston head... I reckon it may be lifter shim gap fail.
Gonna put it on the back burner till after the ring. Go for a few laps in Lee's car and get the love for it again. One good thing is I drove it forwards today

gutted for you mate, especially after the time and effort that has gone into this car.

if it was me i would not give up yet though mate. its gutting but its just teething problems, you will prob have it to bits find something gay (other than what you see in the mirror) and then be kicking yourself for even considering getting rid of the car.

chin up mate you will soon be back on track giggling like a school girl at how fast your new engine is

Cheers mate, however I think you out gay me. The missis doesn't want me to get rid of it, infact no one does. I myself don't want to get rid. However was so disheartened earlier it led me to being silly. (Not Rick silly as there would have been a for sale ad up already). It will relive even if just to drive it and crash it into Rich.

Well my gauge sender seems to have packed up as it's always high... but I opened the oil cap and it shot out. I did think that myself. The dipstick shows no oil, however I know there is 4L's in there! Maybe the baffle?

the baffle shouldn't affect the dipstick level, unless something is stopping the oil returning to the sump, you need to know what the pressure was though ideally, it might become obvious when you take the head off, doesn't sound like piston to head to me though, 4 litres of oil would probably be off the dipstick though if that includes an empty oil cooler

Dude why is it spitting out of the inlet side? Surly that's under vacuum all the time? Is the cam timing right? Could it be a bent valve not sealing and being hit by the piston? Hence the noise and spitting..

Don't give up on it tho, you'll be back in it soon.

Will find out when I take it apart. May well be a bent number 4 valve... as it was the one that didn't like it before.

I thought the same thing and was going to say the same, but Spanish seemed pretty upset and I didn't want to be the reason it ended up on ebay. lmao

i don't see how a bent valve would cause the coolant to spit out like that, and i'm sad to say i cant see it begin a simple fix, but everything is fixable, so chin up mate

That's the spirt, even if you strip it and then leave it before putting it back together.

If its bent and not sealing it could be the fuel spitting out of number 4.. Was my thinking. And it not sealing could be the nasty noise.. Was all i thought.

It's antifreeze it's spitting (sweet taste),

Unfortunetly like Lee says it's something more. Bent valve would be an easy outcome.
