Need to weld the roll cage gussets in. Engine will be going in ASAP, just reluctant to throw it all in to take out to fit the new gearbox!

So todays work... I ended up using my van and trailer to bring the car home so I could crack on with the welding. I fitted the gussets. Wish I took the seats out as they really got in the way. Oh well all done now
Gussets on A pillar stich welded in (Haven't got gas and couldn't be arsed getting any so non gas mig welding ftw, came out ok)
Primmed with Zinc primer, Don't care how the welds looked, haven't ground them back or anything.
A and B pillar in, painted matt black, I love how they look, make it look more 'RACE' like!
More to follow... Don't wanna do a massive post that can't be posted... TBC

So then it was on to polish the new wings and the rest of the car. There was a visible blackness to the whole paintwork, especially the A and B pillars. So I got my 'detailing' cap on, and pulled out my Porter Cable (PC) and bag of polishes waxes etc (must be like £500+ in there) I used menzena Light polish (Cutting) and then Megs gold class watered down for a quick wax.
Here you can see the blackness on the paintwork from where there was once a windscreen seal.
Drivers side polished and that, wing isn't the shiniest, you can see it's not a great finish, but it's the same colour AND from far (on track) you can't see it
Passenger side
Backside
One error I did make though:
Was concentrating on a big bit of carbon, and the pads was also on the wing, oh well not bothered not that visible and it'll do!
I also learnt a new way to clean the polycarbs. I thought I was going to have to get new front, as the we're not very seethru.
Before: Notice the black brown.
After:
Even removed the scratches I had. It was a case of give it a go, if it FAILS then I needed new ones anyway. It didn't fail though
Drivers side.
I then moved onto painting the scuttle. Not looking good TBH, the Zinc primer reacted on two coats, however third was ok when I took it back. Will see how it is.
and to finish off some randoms:
