| not 100% on the differences tbh, but i think any 18 will do considering what you'll do to it eventually(tbs etc etc) |

| is there any point running an 18? I mean it's the same size and I'm guessing the same weight as a 20 but the 20 would have more power.

| slightly bigger bore than the 16 and more stroke, makes a lovely engine from what i'm being told, revvy like the 16 but more torque |

If I had an engine with a long stroke I'd concentrate on making it give as much torque as possible, instead of aiming for maximum revs.
That's short stroke/big bore territory.

| yes, but thats the thing with this 18, apparently its still very revvy, its not a huge increase in stroke over the 1600 if you think about it |

| all depends on the standard of the OE crank / rods and what not as well.
For instance Vauxhall straight 6 12v has bonkers 95mm bore and 69.8mm stroke. But it hates revving over 6500rpm because its all nastily cast bottom end cant handle it, and its not what the breathing has been set up to do either.
