Re handling, you can strengthen, polybush, rosejoint & uprate all day long, but the same mods on a smallblock will reap better rewards. A pukka smallblock will overtake an XE* round the inside or outside of a bend, you choose.
| Hold on. xe and f20 and manifolds is 190kg. Smallblock 1.2 and box is 155, so thats a 35kg difference. Qo you really reckon you can mount an intercooler, turbo, and in some cases a big bloc box, and still see a worthwhile weight saving? especially given that the IC and turbo sit ahead of the engine instead of on the crank line?

If you've got an LET nova (even running standard boost) stripped out, stiffened up, decent suspension and good tyres you'll be able to hold it in the corners then absolutely poop yourself going down the straights and watch the small block novas disappear in your rear view mirror as they try to keep up by revving to 9k!!
Simps | come and try that with mine |

| Oooh! A challenge!! We need to find a trackday first Lee where you aren't asked to leave for being such a noise whore!
Your car is well sorted Lee don't get me wrong, but you've spent a fair bit on it. Spanishfly can get out the box power from an LET and spend the rest on handling and suspension setup.
Simps.

| i remember my 'infamous' old 1.2 carbed nova with 16se lump.
thrown in over a weekend, kept the same fuel tank, put the fuel pump in the engine bay , used to judder a bit round corners when on a quarter of a tank of juice
one day i could smell petrol, truns out the fuel line had rubbed on the alternator belt and was pissing fuel all over the engine bay
fixed it with sum garden hose which later swelled like a baloon.
ahhh, the memories

| I'm really planning on just 'whack the LET in there' seeing what it's like and if its crap I can take it out and sell it then. Thing is in the mk3 Astray it never really used to enjoy going round corners. I'm SO confused |

I'm SO confused | you gotta remember it's not as easy as just "whacking" it in, theres the chassis leg modification, the drive shaft, the stitch welding, wiring, etc etc.
(I would have thought if you want something that handles you would have stitch welded it anyway.)
personally if I was to do a nova again, I'd go with a 16v 1600 on ITB. But thats me.
also spray it matt black!

| It does make an interesting topic tho.
The only fair way to do it tho is if we right to top gear and get the Stig to drive a small block then a big block around their track to see which gets the better time!
