no no no you must have a green rubber sleeve yes it may be new but soem times they forget to attach it take it back honestly im not meesing you about. its to stop dust/grit getting into the seal/moving parts and creatign a leak.

put the picture up in mech and tech and get a second opinion.

I have had them with no seal, some of them don't need the green cover. Also i'm sure Lee isn't loooking for 80k out of it so he'll be fine!

and so, the steering, obviously you need this to be pretty strong as
you dont want it flexing or worse when 'aving it round the track!
started by making this plate

then decided to utilise the original bracketry to save adding more plates to the
bulkhead than was necessary, so got some box...

nice and strong side to side but it still neede a bit of triangualtion to
stop the up and down movement

threw some paint around

that done i thought i'd make some blanking plates for the bay and moved the fuel
unions to the old servo position

now i need to move the gearlever and handbrake, this is where i want the lever
typically right in the middle of the strengthener!

also need to remove this mount and move it back a few inches, will probably
just cut the top off the tunnel and re weld it in the right place

and finally, just cos it's a nice bit of engineering,i give you the underneath of my
quaife shifter!

got a few bits for sale now too, see the for sale section

nah, you need the whole banging the lever down through the box thing if you're gonna do it! on a big alloy tower next to the wheel, alas, this cant be used for that

If you go sequential , dont go quaife 32G they go vroooom tic vrooooom tic vroooooooom BANG grrrrrruncccchhhhhhh -------oil slick! much better with a Sadev.

Seriously though than is some serious mods, the crossbrace that mounts the factory seats, on most rally cars that is removed entirly from the floor as it is a heavy lump of steel. i drilled all the spotwelds out on mine and removed it and there is now lots of room.

Also could you not do a hydraulic hand brake , they now come with a cable attachment of 2x long throttle cables to pass mot but will snap if ever used! very reasonable from rally design.

lol, have heard that about older quaife stuff but i thought they'd sorted it, bit pie in the sky anyways
had also thought about hydraulic h/brake but i cant be bothered tbh, not a big handbrake user tbh, only need it to stop the car rolling away

cheers for the tip on the strengthener though, might bin that totally then, i do have brace bars going across for the seats so as you say it should be strong enough

I reckon with the revised seating/steering/pedal locations the car could feel totally different to drive. (or maybe a little)
