I can tell you what's missing from the Golf:-
not just a bearing but an entire camshaft!!! lmao

“Speed has never killed anyone, suddenly becoming stationary… that’s what gets you.”
yeah a 16v is on the cards...
so, four day weekend, perfect excuse to go to the garage..
started off cleaning out the oil tank
then made a small repair to the bottom, it appears its been hitting the gearbox a little…
bit of duraweld and some sanding later…
much better, then fitted it back to the car with a mod to stop that happening again
after that i tidied my fuel system a little, need to different connectors to finish it off how i want, moved the facet to a new position though, looks more compact now
before
after
then i fitted my new bullet cam, pretty stealthy but may need to make it even more so for germany, we shall see when the seats are back in..
played with our new milling machine collet set that brian had bought, needed notching for the keyway after brian had tapered it down to fit the mills' current chuck
will make using any tools in the mill a piece of piss now, lovely bit of kit…
and he's getting there with the exhaust now, i reckon the manifolds will be done by monday, exciting times!!!
also, its amazing what you find in your car, found my warning triangle wedged in the rear 3/4 lmao

ah, so another days thrills and spills...
firstly i got round to finishing the rear floor, only needed a couple of rivets so its done now, then i wanted to seal off the inner wings were the floor meets them, was easy enough
on the drivers side i bent it in hoping some hot will exhaust out behind the wheel, time will tell if it runs too hot or not lmao
no such issues on the passenger side
cleaned the inner arches too, amazing how much crap can collect!!
look ma, red paint!! lmao
i also finished tidying the fuel system up, moved the pressure pump today, still want to change the return hose to the tank, but need some fittings, will do that next week as Brian is going to think auto…
then me and Brian got the detailer out!lmao
never thought i would use that phrase tbh, but his manta was in dire need of a bit of a cleanup, so i volunteered....
so, in true detail geek fashion, before...
and after
looks bloody great!!
he's gonna cover it up now to stop the dust from matts car attaching itself again
he's also not done any manifold work due to running out of gas, grrrr, but we may have a solution for tomorrow
so we played with the mill instead, the new collet system is all fitted up now brian cut the thread on the mills original draw bar onto it, fits great and allows us to use all these collets
oh, also painted the splitter black on the nova, i like it!!

Nice progress all round! I hate running out of gas, its maddenning! Collet system looks interesting! I got a similar set with the lathe but no holder![]()
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, thoroughly used, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming... "f*ck, what a trip!"
You big bufty boy.... hahahahaha
I'm louder than gods own revolver and twice as shiney.
its great because it makes things so easy, you don't need to mess around with the draw bar at all, just change collets, we had to convert the holder to suit the mills chuck, but the lathe and brian did that easily, and we have a fitting to use the same in the lathes tailstock
and benn, i knew you'd love this updatelmao

Alistair, the collet systems are known as ER.. so you can get ER16, ER32 and ER40 sets. Ours is an ER32 set, so a maximum shank diameter of 20mm can be used.
Brian Sidebotham.

i'm off to read race car![]()

Yeah me too, it's kind of a must-happen really! lol. I'm sure it will, I could just get Matt to depress the valve and point it at the weld whilst I finish off the manifolds! lmao
You still not read that!Jeez

It's a Sony HQ cam that will do 1080p. However the recorders we have are only capable of 720p. However there good quality and have good mics.
The group buy was for Shonky opel members only, you didn't cut the mustard lmao However as I like you pm on way![]()
