    Re: Lee's Garage

i didn't bother as i don't think the bump steer is noticeable at my ride height, certainly not enough to fit heavy rod ends that don't get rid of any 'play' in the steering setup as the stock joint is a metal ball joint anyway, also not fan of getting rid of the nice strong taper for a single shear bolt, you also need to shorten the rack arms and re-die the thread further along the shaft to get the toe correct so i would check for bump steer before you go fitting any, but off the top of my head, i think they are m12 with a finer pitch than stock, 1.25 maybe??

I reckon your right, going to get it checked for bump steer first then see how we go. I dont think it is a big problem but ive been getting the car setup by my mate who runs MGZR S1600 cars and he knows how to set them up.

    Cheers

no worries, easy thing to check but i would wager 99% of people who fit the rose jointed ends don't actual do it!!

    Re: Lee's Garage

The funny thing was whilst checking castor, camber etc the tow out changed by 3mm over 100mm of suspension travel, i hadnt realised that it changed so much but then again its never really bothered me as ive alwys driven it as hard as i could.

After test on Saturday were going to spend a bit time on setup to see if it benefits the car any.

    Re: Lee's Garage

thats the thing with rally cars, such large travel means bump steer can have a larger effect on things, i think my suspension travel is 30mm max! with 3mm toe change though i imagine you will see some benefits...

    Re: Lee's Garage

righty, well a good fun day at the garage, took the nova out for a proper run and after a little fine tuning of the t.b. balance, the misfire has disappeared so that done i got round to repainting the camcover after i spilt petrol on it and ruined the finish

    its a ford colour!

    looks nice now…

    even cleaned the leads up

brian meanwhile is making a start on the exhausts, having made a tube squashing tool for the press, he's cracking on!!

then someone drove into the focus on the way home, d'oh!!

little vid on the way in a few minutes if it will upload...

ok a video, horiffic editing but it was all the same run just cut about and not in orderlmao
spot the oversteer at 2.15, not much grip out there!! it misses a tiny bit on the run after exiting that corner, but elsewhere its going well, amazingly realistic these private test tracks...
