Woo, my dry sump kit is getting closer : )
ta for the beef lee.
Boo-hoo. But the cav is now almost as light as I should have built it origionally. lmao
For those getting parts:
Just gotta spend tonight/tomorrow night stripping the bits off other parts ofr you (ie pump face plate & sump off block, TBB's off head) etc etc.
Mcfly - I've carefully wrapped up the block for you. Just gotta split gearbox off it to get clutch off.
No picture of the reaplacement track day car that now sits on my drive - I'll see if I can get a pic up. Can I justify putting it in this tread by saying Lee took it for a thrash with the comment of "goes alright, brakes are great". lmao
Lee what sort of price did your drive shafts cost in the end, all in mate, inner cv's with custom shafts and stuff as i might be getting the same gearbox for my corsa, but its coming with the output flanges buts thats all, i am using the astra 16v outer cv joints now on astley shafts, just trying to cost the job up.... cheers mate...
hi mate
right well mine came in at about Ј800 including cvs and boots, and i doubt i will ever be able to break one, got my shafts made by reco prop
righty, a busy fun packed evening tonight, peester popped in(nice to put a face to a name) with some hubs, struts and a gear linkage to have some work done, had an astra to do a rear hub on and then i got round to fitting this too
even found time to replace the custon ziptie motorsport bracket with a slightly better but still shonky metal bracket
yes it is just the one that gills had on it bent slightly lmao

oh and neo, be carefull whne you measure up for the shafts, best to have a cv bolted up to the flange and measure it up as it makes them quite a bit shorter than a stock shaft, you'll be needing af bolts to fit the flange holes too

righty, did a few bits for peester(dave) on here tonight, as i have been drafted in to
help finish his 1800 nova project
he dropped some hubs and stuff off last week, so first job was to strip the hubs down
easy with air tools!(mig foot fetish club membership application supplied)
then had to drill them out to fit these
he's using uniballs too
then had to replace the bearings in his top mounts, they required shimming too to remove all the play
final job(for now) was to rose joint his gear linkage, it seems i do mine slightly differently to everyone else who gets the kit of parts dave supplied me, i just think its more adjustable and the rose joints are better loaded in this orientation, not that i think you would break
one in the opposite plane as its just a gear linkage, but there we go...
need some longer bolts for the joints but other than that its done, so should be up to his at some point to get the car done
in the mean time brian has begun his dry sump pan, making use of my old fittings, should be ace when done!
might look at the nova some time soon i guess lmao
