that lock is also when the car is up in the air, so will improve somewhat when its on the floor, but i think a swap to 15's with a slightly smaller offset may do the trick tbh, half inch is actually quite alot of extra clearance given that its on an angle, not a fan of wide track tbh but we shall see...

Forgot to ask about the drive shafts? I'm confused.
You've got 22 spine ones currently, so need new ones that are 18 spline to fit and then need hubs to fit the new shafts?![]()
BILLING 30th ANNIVERSARY - July 13th-15th 2012
no, ideally i just need some cvs that will fit the 22 spline driveshafts i already have and also have the correct 30mm 18 spline pattern for the differential side gears

hahaha I just fell off my chair laughing at your locklessness man, thats crazy! Im so used to seeing people with taxi like steering see
I suppose though now it has touring car steering lock to go with the gearbox![]()

Total Carlton (Carlton Forum)
Nice and hefty splines on that diff
Is it likely the cv's will have to be some kind of custom jobbie to fit the 22spline nova shaft, but the 18spline diff?
i dunno, its more likely 888 just specced that for the inners and had some shafts made to suit, i'm hoping its a standard ish part for the motorsport arena, just need to find a suitable company to speak to about getting some cvs
but i'm not gonna do anything untill i've decided how i'm gonna get around the lock issue, as it may involve longer shafts, wil be having a look on saturday and making up my mindlmao

Run one driveshaft for true 1WD!!!
www.shonkyopels.de
lmao spanish to the rescue with sensible suggestion
shonkyopels.de
unfortunately, that wont solve the issues though, as the wheel would still hit the boxlmao

Was this box not for sale including the drive shafts at one point ? it would be easyier to buy them and shorten them would it not...
Hewland cv's will be a fortune, my mate has just paid over Ј400 for 2 for a formula 3000 and they made loads for the transaxle in those..
Lee,
Nice box mate!
Try these for driveshaft/cv

Drivelink do there own cv joints - worth a try
cheers
rob
erm, not really, i would have to have some shafts made, and then alter my hubs to take whatever cv's were on the end of them, think they were big block and i'm not really wanting to go that route tbh, i doubt the cv i need is all that rare in motorsport circles, why would 888 spec something that is hard to get?
cheers robert, will do![]()

Lee,
You could use an F20 outer joint and a 'special' inner for your diff. Get the lenth of the shaft right (plunge angles and all that) and just get drivelink or someone to make them for you with the correct splines each end.
I priced them up for my corsa (widetrack ones) and they worked out at around Ј300 per pair less the joints. Drivelink said a GM outer is fine but recon'd an uprated inner was need for 200bhp+.
Are you considering widetracking the nova then, with the lock-issue?
rob
I hope it's not going wide track.
www.shonkyopels.de
i dont reeally want to go wide track, but if that is the only option to use the gearbox, then thats what i'll do, i'm just not a fan of the wide track look, i have an idea or two i'll be trying today at some point, we shall see...

you know, the second i typed that i thought you would pull me up on it, hence i clarifed my pointlmao
ok, so did a few things today
firstly, i built jr's engine up to the point where its mainly sealed up and ready for whenever he gets his cylinder head all together, so that was cool, feels really nice to turn over, probably because the bearings are the right size this time!
then i had a look at my gearbox, and worked out i could find some more lock with a bit of
adjustment to the end casing, like so
not alot to remove though as its fairly tight under the cover anyways, as this pic shows
but i do have this much lock now, which will do me till i get some 15s i think
so, doesnt look like i'll be wide tracking any time soon, sorry oli![]()

good, agree dont like wide track, for me the fact it just doesnt look right, olis seems to get away with it just.
have to say your a brave man buzzing material off that end casing!!
its not just the look, i think ollys car looks awesomely hardcore for example, its more the amount of work to do it when i dont think the car needs a wider track, will probably get the 15s in a slightly lower offset, 40 or something to get a few more mm that way too, but i think it'll be fine, so now to source some cvs....
