Thankyou, like I said do it when you want the cash. If you have other people that require your services or you can't be arsed, then don't rush. But if you want the paper then I'll come collect as soon as its done

    Re: Lee's Garage

righty, made a start on jr's build today, but, as will be come clear, didnt get that far!
started out with a bit of a dry fit of the crank to measure the end float, 0.1mm so thats cool

then got the bearings out and cleaned them, surprising how much dirt they have on them out the pack!

then fitted and lubed up the mains

all torqued up, rear seal sorted using gm sealant, crank rotation feels lovely

then refitted the rings to the pistons, and chamfered the end caps for the ARPs

and then i hit a snag, having fitted the pistons in the bores, i noticed the bearings seemed a bit tight to get the caps on

and, sure enough, somehow or other between me and jr we had the wrong size bearings, turns out he crank mains had been ground but not the big ends, and we had first oversize bearings all round, whoops! so that was all she wrote for today
jr will source some new bearings and we will finish it off after that, oh well...

then me and brian got a bit destructive on a v6 pistons just for giggles, turns out they're quite strong, took many, many hammer blows to do this to it, snapping the rod was relatively easy with the press though lmao

also fitted mr walshs' airbox properly and a new dizzy cap and leads, so that should be finished next week with any luck too

Mmmmmmmmmmmm engine building. I like the way that Animal is now a 'visitor' and not a resident heh

you're just super lucky jr! he used to be there every weekend and most evenings, then he went and bought a house and now he's almost a strangerlmao it was actually awesome on saturday, just like old times, lots of piss taking, even more laughing out loud, some new nicknames a three legged dog and an odd vehicle to weld up, i believe matt and brian left at 4 amlmao
and dont worry about lunch, there will be many more times i'm sure

Im pretty sure I owe you guys a burger too, but I cant for the life of me remember why or from when. Maybe it was a Kebab. Ah I dunno, was when Animal was doing donuts of some shipping container until he sheared the front driveshaft on the celica or something. Random-memory.com

Yeah, the weekend was bloody good fun. I even enjoyed welding the floorpan of the van whilst laid on the floor! lol

I'm sure Animal enjoyed all of the ribbing he received about his box + engine too!

That piston took a lot of effort to break - we did find out a few things though, specifically that the gudgeon pins CAN be made floating if you apply a hammer in the right place.

    Re: Lee's Garage

oh yes, and, if you find have gudgeon pins that are too small for your v6 rods, a hammer and a jack can fix it with minimal expenditurelmao

    Re: Lee's Garage

i have knowen a couple of peeps to convert standard pistons to be fully floating type and claimed it to be very good at makin "free" power ment to be good for power up high and only involves a reemer and center dab for pistons that dont have clips!!
