hmm, if it goes cheap enough then yeah, but tbh, its been up before and the guy wanted way too much for it, seems most people think they can sell their straight cut stuff for what they paid -£200 nowadays

    Re: Lee's Garage

so, bit more progress on mr walshs' car last night, didnt get time to upload them last
night as we went for a very pleasant curry afterwards
when i got there jon and jason hudson had been busy, amongst other things, painting the floor, and removing some bits to make fitting the new fuel lines easier and painting the inners of the doors black too,
so, first thing i did was rivet the alloy panel in place of the old gearshift

jon started to fit the foot rest too, the floor will be getting some carpet

and after that i concentrated on the jic fuel lines for the carbs, as jon and jase had paid think a visit earlier in the day,
looks rather nice even if i do say so myself!

new gearbox will be here by the weekend so i will be fitting that back in and then sorting the internal linkage, then it should be nearly done

    Re: Lee's Garage

nothing went wrong with the old one, its just that he wants a 4.18 final drive rather than the current 3.92, and his old box being an f15 the final drive is non removeable, so he has sourced an f13 cr instead

    Re: Lee's Garage

lol, gearboxes do tend to be that sort of item that people treat like voodo magic just happens inside and the gears work somehow, so its best not to mess with themlmao but tbh, once you've had one in bits, all becomes clear
i too am glad the box has gone, especially to a mate who has similar car philosophy

mm, gotta love that bearing wear on first start up after the engine has sat around for ages

righty, so went up tonight to catch up with brian and also did a bit to the car!lmao
first things firt so i tried to fit my old diff to the f16 casing, thats a no go so its for sale
but as i had the casing off the car again, thought i would clean it up

and give it a lick of paint

so that can go on the shelf ready for the gearset when i've saved up enough lmao

you can try, but i have always wanted to cut a gearbox casing in half... so it may be a risky move

Cheers for the offer dude I reckon I'll get my box out this weekend, strip it so that i can pretend I know what i'm doing lmao , then come down when you have the cluster ready and if you have time assemble it there. I take it that once the cluster is built its a fairly straight forward job fitting it to the casing
I'm sure (as u say) once I've had mine off and apart it will all be a lot clearer anyway

well its up to you mate, but you dont have to remove the gearbox from the car, you can do and then bring it down and we can put the cluster in there and then, or you can just remove the cluster from your box, leaving the bell housing in the car, most you'll have to do is remove two of the bolts from the gearbox front bolts to let it swing down to clear the inner wing, or you can cut the inner wing to make removeal and refittment easier
i'm happy to do whatever, just got back from vauxhall and the bearings and circlips and bits should be here early next week, so should be rebuilt ready by next weekend
