oh i rememeber that now! the RST had been whupped once, but came back for another go after i hit the limiter in fifth and backed off ,probably turned the boost uplmao but got the same result, he didnt look too pleasedlmao![]()
right, todays playtime fun
first things first, finally got an UNO wiper motor from a scrappie, so set about mounting
it(to the car you gutter minded pervs!!) the motor is a common mod, and very easy to fit
all i had to do was make these two ally tabs up and remove the spacer sleeve that the uno requires
on the spindle
here it is fitted, as you can see the bolts go through the bonnet return, you may need to notch the bonnet
to clear although tbh i reckon you could get away with just mounting it by the main spindle as its very light
easy! so that done, wanted to find a home for my lambda reader, which is usually velcroed on as as you can see it has no mounts at all!
velcro doesnt seem to like my car, and the cable tie method just wont do this time, so i modded the casing so i could fit a ally tab through the back to mount it to, like so![]()
also mounted my fuel filter and washer bottle, cant decide where to put the fuel reg yet though
then i mounted my new alternator, with a bracket from 4mm steel
its quite nice getting through all these little jobs, must start the front suspension arms soon though!![]()
some good progress there lee, what alt you using, i used a swift gti and did a similar mount to that, although mines tight to the engine, hopefully not too tight!
uno wiper, is that a single speed?
wheres the washer bottle from?, tis tiny.
washer bottle is a nova saloon item![]()
as for the alternator, i cant mount it any tighter cos of the casting shape and to align the pulley, its a micra Denso item, but i've fitted a nova pulley to under drive it a little to cope with the revs
and the wiper motor is multi speed![]()
Hmmmm, is the Uno wiper unit lighter then? how much? And how much does the linkage weigh now that its binned?cheers
Looking at every possible way to lighten my boat ya seeeee

its used for its single wiper sweep, as opposed to having to modify the nova linkage, dont think there is much of a weight difference
Ah I see. Also tucks the motor nicely out of view for underbonnet pimping.

oh yeah lee, are you going to put another piece of steel in that mount, just for peace of mind with transverse movement
My uno motor is held on by the spindle and some strategic cable ties, they're lighter than bracketslmao
Is that a sytec motorsport fuel filter, with the cleanable internals? Looks delicious
1.6 16v Throttle-bodied Nova

they'll be a top mount obviously, but s that lower mount is 4mm steel i think it'll be strong enough as is tbh, the alternator is very light, will see how it goes though, if it needs a bit more, it'll get itlmao
zip tie motorsport is going to be our name for the garage as it goesOriginally Posted by dhdev
and actually the uno motor is a fair bit lighter than the nova one and all the linkage gubbins, main reason its good though is if you remove the fire wall there is no where to mount the original motor!!
and yup, sytec filter![]()
