Nice figures, whats the 1.8 std?
Nice figures, whats the 1.8 std?
I'm louder than gods own revolver and twice as shiney.
if its the 1800 i think it is small block vectra engine then its 125bhp same as my vectra c
''THE REAL ROB''
Fook! excellent figures! Thats well over 125 hp per liter on an N/A set-up. Not half bad - top skills mate
Hope all goes well at the ring![]()
Awesome figure, well done to all involved, thats going to fly![]()

Excellent Lee, so whats next? Steel Crank for the next build?
Cant wait to get to some track days and seethis beast![]()
FOOK !
Thats going to be one bloody fast car
Top result, pleased its worked out for you this time.
Let us know how Giles gets on
Welding and fabrication, custom roll cages, cnc parts + lots more PM me
Great news
Enjoy it at the ring![]()
so, its very early in the am but i cant sleep as the nova has just given me one hell of a drive
home from track and raod!lmao
feels fantastic, even with a clutch release bearing that is leaking badly! really pleased with the numbers and how it drives, here's the graph, and a little video of the power run, as you can see it makes peak power at 8440, just 60 shy of the limiter lmao could go do more but i wouldnt trust the crank, and dont see the benefits of risking it tbh
sadly gills has come into some problems, firstly his facet started to play up causing his 044 to start struggling,
then it appears something has gone amiss with the cam timing/bottom pulley keyway so he didnt end the evening a happy bunny
cant blame him really, i know how i would be, fingers crossed we can get it all sorted for thursday though, chin up mate
must say massive big up to the two steves, once again they have shown they are the best mapping combo around imo, and good friends to boot, top bombing guys![]()

Yep. Top job for from the Steves again.
Although I'm not smiling at the mo I can't fault them for the time, effort and advice they give.
I'm gonna have to sleep on if I go to the ring. Although it could be a relativly simple fix (fixes) it's pushing it to the wire and time-wise I'm a little stuffed to gat a pump, then would have to hope the timing issue isn't bad one.
Kinda in two minds at the moment. oh well....
Cheers for the support Lee and the offers of help - oh and the shoulder to cry on. lmao
And damn nice engine.
At least the good side is my engine isn't knackered, and a relatively simple fix will sort it. Just time is against me and kinda always wanted to get the engine 100% optimised if I was ever gonna touch it again.
See what I feel like in the morning.
well whatever i can do to get you there mate i will, you could come from work wednesday then we can fix it, but its up to you and how you feel, i reckon its a fairly easy one![]()

Yeah cheers pal.
Could always give Wednesday night a go and if can't sort it I'm no worse off.....
Give you a short in the morning fella.

What are the two dips in the curves caused by? I see the AFR dips too?
Just watched the vid at work with no sound, still cool IMO watching a smallblock break the 200bhp mark![]()

Nice one Lee. I'm really glad this has been worthwhile for you.
The numbers are great but I love the fact is pushing out 200 at the wheels, that puts it into perspective for me...
Onto the ring!
it's a C20XE not a fookin Redtop FFS
very nice..... all that can be said.
has scrapped the sig with all the cars to do list!!!!! 3 novas i own says it all really
Clap, clap clap...
That is fairly impressive, over 200bhp at the wheels with no weight penalties.
ANY COLOUR YOU WANT AS LONG AS IT'S WHITE.
204 @ the wheels to be preciselmao
the dips are the cams probably, pulses and all that, some development with tuning exhaust/inlet lengths might see them dissapear, but they arent that noticeable on the road, as once i get into the top of the rev range the gearbox means it only dips to like 6500 rpm minimum after the change
best bit for me is the spread of torque, it already makes 130 lb/ft at 4krpm!
anyways, i'm really quite tired, so will be chilling/sleeping for a couple of hours then going to the garage for a probable all nighter to fix the slave cylinder and first gear problems i'm having, then gills is coming up tommorow so we can fix his, then its off to nurburg, yay!

The dips will be a combination of both the drop in VE (from cams and intake lengths etc being out of their sweet spot as Lee mentioned) but also of the fact the fuel doesnt seem to have been taken out to account for that yet, a bit more mapping could probably see those dips lessened, but as Lee says, im sure they dont really effect performance much.
Some would say its been mapped very badly though, as apparently there should be no part of full load where the air/fuel ratio will be in the twelves, let alone in the elevens. lmao
Personally I disagree with that, and think the AFR's here are pretty much spot on other than the slight rich points during those VE dips, but there may be a reason for those anyway.

VE being volumetric efficiency?
*fires up wikipedia*
Teeth? LUXURY! When I was a child we ate by putting rocks in our mouth and jumping up and down.
yes jack
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, thoroughly used, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming... "f*ck, what a trip!"
Yes mate, effectively a measure of how well the engine can consume air.
There is very strong correlation to torque figures from VE*capacity
