    Re: Lee's Garage

righty then! after a fair bit of faffing around, i have finally driven my car with a proper clutch
and everything! and all i can say is, its awesome! lmao

it just feels really really strong, and the 7.25 clutch will be no problem at all on the road, just gives a nice positive gearchange, took brian with me too, and
i think thats why he's now got one of these for the manta!

cant stop grinning tbh massive thanks to bri for all his assistance during the whole build, now hurry up and get the manta done!

lol, i can think of few things to blamelmao
spoke to spanish earlier, he's gonna take the coupe, nova is in need of work and a different exhaust before he does a long journey like that in it, so its not just a time issue

he got that one for Ј50 but i'm sure another would be handy, he is off to bali for work soonish though so will probably be when he's back

    Re: Lee's Garage

I've been out in it :P

That is one solid torque curve. The video's don't do it enough justice really, being in it and hearing it for real is a whole other experience! It's a really confidence enspiring drive too, the car seems really well planted when blatting about. I'm looking forward to the stories that come back from the ring. I think anyone who gets to go out in it will have a target to aim for!

Good luck Giles, I suggest you think up some Dastardly-type maneuvres to keep up!

Mr. K - Any 2.5 ltr V6 stuff would be good at the moment, particularly rocker covers actually, something I could do with. I'll pop you a PM when I'm back from Bali in a couple of weeks and we can hook up. Thanks for the offer

An XE would not keep up with Lee's car, so I had to accelerate my plans a bit (no pun intended!). No point building something I know will not have a chance of keeping up.

Good work Lee, I'm very pleased to see it strong and on the road. Wish I wasn't going away right now, but there we go it'll all still be there when I get back!

    Re: Lee's Garage

yeah saw that in your thread, good choice, will transform the performance of the car, and compliment the engine nicely

as for the clutch, you can do yourself a favour by skimming a bit off the lump on the inside of the bell housing that sits above the release bearing, as this usually hits the cover(mine did)
as for the release, i'm running a vectra hydrualic slave, and there is actually more room with the 7.25 than there was with the normal helix as the center of the clutch is recessed somewhat
what make is your clutch? super clutch i would imagine?

    Re: Lee's Garage

so, time for a little update, just got off the rollers at track and road having fitted a decent clutch, and it makes 230 bhp and 157 lb/ft
chuffed with that tbh, the power is still very much climbing at the 8500 rev limiter but thats as far as i want to rev the stock crank tbh! peak torque is at 6600, will post the graph when i get in later on or tommorow, need to remove and refit the box again though before thursday as the clutch slave is leaking again, which sucks, but i dont carelmao

giles is currently having his final tweeks done too so should have a figure for him too soon
