point being its internal and dumps the annoying question mark shaped bit from the standard linkage and goes direct to the turret, making it more accurate and giving a really good feel to the lever

ah right.is the black bit at the end, thats connected direct then?
sounds good,
I'm louder than gods own revolver and twice as shiney.
yeah, just straight to the turret on the box, so no reversal of the movement like the standard nova one, if you run the quaife lever with the standard linkage(as i did for last year) then the gears will be reversed, i.e first is left and down, not up
wow cool
dog box...i want one...
I'm louder than gods own revolver and twice as shiney.
nah, dog box is different again, and is to do with the way the gears are meshed with each other when you change gear, in a normal box you have synchromesh to help equalise the speed of the gear and the layshaft in the box as it is being selected, wheras in a dog box you have dog rings with teeth that effectively grab the next gear, giving a faster, but more brutal change
oh right,so a dog box would be good then?
I'm louder than gods own revolver and twice as shiney.
did you have cravendale milk? if so they WANT IT BACK!!!!!
curiosity killed the cat...................but for a while i was a suspect!!
Yeah not a dog engagement box but with a standard linkage a dog leg 1st box, as all old skool fords used to run. Some mk2 escorts and the works lotus sunbeam rally cars had ZF dogleg 1st gearboxes .
Looking good Lee you so need to put a stage log book on that!!
only sainsburys milk here, honest!lmao
mr rallycar, i know, but i dont want to bash it up any more, track days and nurburg will do me![]()

Switch panel looks great lee! Excellent location for it.
Simps.
Looking good boyo.
cheers! think i've solved the hydraulic clutch install/how to bleed it now too, pics later

love to know what a difference that shifter makes, looks on a very stressful angle but hope that it works fine for you,
always wanted to know the way of going about putting a quaife shifter in you have answered my questions now
great thread keep spending and posting pics up!lol
That rod setup looks wicked!! Thats not suppose to sound chavy!! Hands down lee you know ya stuff!! i bet that gives a lot better feel for the gear change! Hope you dont mind me asking how much would that lot set me back all the parts needed?? keep the pics coming it makes me crack on with mine ha!!lmao
i know what you're saying kev, still not quite sure how it works without just buckling the joint but there really isnt a way to soften the angle, and the helicopter joints are amazing![]()
stu, that little lot, including the lever, is £600+ +VAT
righty, so, as promised, hydraulic clutch fitment
ever since i bought and fitted this slave cylinder(only need to open the holes out 1mm each to fit it)
i've been wondering how it is bled, as it only has one union on the whole thing, no bleed
nipple, nothingso found out that in o/e applications you have a union on the top of the box with a bleeder, and a hard pipe that goes inside the box, the bleed union...
and yes, thats Brian_S of MIG fame dancing in the background lol
this is like £85 from vauxhall!!so i got one from a scrappie
discovered today however, that the hard pipe is only a fiver new
and amazingly, it fits like its meant to be there! slightest bend needed, but the hole for the bleed connector even lines up and is the right size!!![]()
oh, heres the gear linkage, from above so you can see how it goes direct to the turret

Looks very nice! Interesting to see something done with funky parts. I'll be watching this thread intently!
Teeth? LUXURY! When I was a child we ate by putting rocks in our mouth and jumping up and down.
cheers!
oh, should say, using a 0.7 master cylinder, will have to see if thats the right one by trying it though...
you could soften the angle but it would mean a lot more work. new hole in bulkhead and put the gearstick on an angle instead of straight on like it is just now
curiosity killed the cat...................but for a while i was a suspect!!
i was gonna say arnt you missing the pipe on the inside of the box....but no w i see,
I'm louder than gods own revolver and twice as shiney.
it wil be fine at that angle, only slight concern is as it is designed for a dog box the speed in which it moves the synchros can sometimes over power the gear and you can prematurely wear out the baulk rings. With the lever and linkage there is so little movement in the gear linkage it is unreal , a vast improvement over standard . Plenty snickage of gears to be had!
very cool, never seen the hydrolic clutch set up before!
Top stuff!
