sooooo, an update! been dragging my feet over painting the inside long enough,
    so had a go todaylmao
rubbed it down and masked it up first(what a ball ache!) then painted some primer

which came out fine considering the gun i was using!then it was time for some dark
    grey paint

sporry he pics are a bit dark, couldnt be bothered to find a light! well happy
    with the results, looks great!
after that i thought i'd play with my gear linkage as harry hockley finally supplied
    the bits
    a gear linkage, earlier today

christ its long! mr hockley left the long rod a bit long for me afetr i told
him where i put my seat!!

    mmm helicopter joint

also had to fit a new rod to the turret, to fit the joints, easy really, just a roll pin

also got me a small alternator and a pulley to under drive it a bit to cope with the revs

need to make a mount for it though

so start putting the interior back in tommorrow

Fricking hell! Lee dont hang around!

Lee you can do my car for me when yer done.

WTF is a helicopter joint? Nice Hockley bits though & I love the grey interior, how I want mine done. Kind of works touring car style.

Benn. Bright Red interior would induce glare on the windows etc. Gunmetal is the way to go....

shouldnt do, it runs through a bearing on the bulkhead, if it moves i'll put another bearing on the tunnel somewhere, and i didnt want it red cos i wanted some contrast

craig, helicopter joint is just a aircraft quality cv joint but expensive... so it better work well!!lmao

it has a detent on the underside, if you look closely of the pic of it a few oages back, you can just see the lump of steel on the side of the inner turret and the lug that runs along it on the gearstick bearing pics coming up

went up the garage today, and can i start by saying, my god its got cold quick!
tried to get some shots in the daylight, but ended up having to dig out the lamp
the interior looks great now the paints dry

so, time to start fitting things! pedal box first, along with the gear lever and hand
brake assembly in its new position

    then the fuel system

that done, the steering and my seat went back in

and now that i know where i'm sitting, made a little bracket for the brake bias adjuster
started out with just a bit of box, shaped to fit the roll cage bar, and drilled and tapped
to 4mm to mount the adjuster and welded to the cage, like so

then ran the cable et voila!

also started to llook at the gear linkage, need to weld this boss to the inner tunnel now
that i've mounted the bearing to it

here-ish, but i need to get it right so will mock up with the engine and box

hopefull have a go at that tommorow, need to find an uno wiper motor in the scrappie first though!

excellent work lee, really nice to see someone making a proper go on a nova using parts that arent all vaux part bin specials (not that theres anything wrong with that, mind)

lee would you pm me with a rough price of how much the hockley linkage cost you? i know the price they fetch second hand but im honestly not sure how much they cost new. my shell has the bearing housing fitted already so im keen to leave it there and use the correct linkage!

so, small update, reasons for which i shall explain in a minute
first off started by tacking the gearshift bearing into place on the tunnel

then i had to fit one of the bushings to the end of the long tube to connect it to the linkage, but as you still want the tube to pass through the bearing, and it has a bushing
at both ends, you need a seamless finish(no splurging on with the mig this time!)
so first, cut two slots in the tube

then weld the boss in, puddle styleee

bit of grinding, and hey presto! fits the linkage, and fits through the bearing

here you can see it installed, the blue bit rotates relative to itself to give side
    to side adjustment

and then, just as i was about to start making a new switch box, we had a power cut!
the local mc'donalds was out too! stayed for a bit, but still no joy, so tommorow it is!

righty, went up today(was a bit hard to get out of bed though, cold mornings suck! ) and luckily, the power was back on! so some progress...
firstly thought i'd finish the gear linkage, so in with the box

immediately obvious that i needed to remove the original linkage mount, so out with the grinder!

also had to remove the bearing and site it further back(glad i only tacked it in!) anyway,
mocked it up so i could cut the tube to length and fit the boss in it, same as the other end
cut two slots, weld then grind them back so it will fit through the bearing

then connect it up, a bit of adjusting and it works

so, that done, time for a switch panel, started out with some plate, a scribe and the drill stand

then over to the mighty blue press! such a handy tool! can do bearing etc, but with the right tooling it will happily bend stuff up too!

    the results

    its going here

well pleased with that, thought i'd have a cup of tea, and found the cows all lined up staring at me! freaked me out a bit!lmao lmao

so start the wiring next i guess, or maybe the front suspension...

    and love the linkage...but.
it looks like it comes out in the same place as a std nova one... so whats the point?
