Cracking on nicely now mate good to see your still busy at it, wish i had that sort of motivation, have you decided what your doing with the exhaust system yet.

yes mate side exit with a nice tailpipe on the end, gunna go for 3inch from downpipe back for now as still got bits to buy and i no the exhaust aint gunna be cheap!

still need turbo recon, mocal oil cooler, cutom alloy rad, hoses, intercooler pipes, decent chip (phase 2), short shifter, bigger injectors, bigger fuel press reg............the list goes on but i want it right!!!

You need to be able to do work yourself, and to build a good corsa turb id say atleast 4k, not inclucing any work the engine needs or bodywork costs.

When your going the whole hog like Bux or me, its best not to add everything up tbh. lmao

well i have been putting k-series 1.8vvcinto metros for a while and thought id try something different going for a 2.0tubz corsa, alot diff to metros but its worth a go!

a hell of alot of money! if you add up the engine alone there is a far bit there here is my engine spec without labour charges


flywheel and clutch were alomost £700, engine cost me just over £1100 with buyin the calibra (sold few parts) so it knocked the price down!!

actually its easier to do it this way, price all this up and work it out, the corsa cost me £400 to buy and i aint no where near fnished yet!! still got alloy rad commin, oil cooler, turbo upgrade, bigger injectors and fuel press reg, hoses etc...........

Engine stripped bare ready for rebuild

Block cleaned and painted black
Bores honed
New piston rings
New main bearings & bolts
New big end bearings & bolts
New oil pump metal gasket
Cosmetic 1.9mm metal head gasket
Head stud conversion kit and arp head nuts with early xe head bolt washers
Rebuilt coascast head (valves re-lapped, new seals)
New front and rear crank seals & camshaft seals
New inlet & exhaust gaskets
New modified sump gasket (all in one bonded together)
Sump cleaned and polished & new sump bung
New cam belt, tensioner and idlers x 2
Cam cover stripped and powder coated
Cam belt cover stripped and powder coated
Spark plug cover stripped and painted
New main crank bolt and Allen head crank pulley bolts as apposed to torx bolts
New lightened billet flywheel and bolts
Throttle cable mount powder coated
New samco breather hose
Stainless steel heat shield & bolts
New exhaust manifold studs and manifold bolts
New silicone vacuum hose (blue)
Dipstick covered in silicone hose (blue)
Aluminium polished oil cap
Gearbox stripped and cleaned and re-painted in silver
Modified alternator bracket and belt to compromise driving only crank and alternator pulleys (£50)
Blue silicone vacuum hose
New thermostat seals
New oil filter
Helix 4 paddle cosmetic racing clutch (£450)
M-Tec conversion kit (£625)


Body/chassis
Battery tray removed and battery re-located behind passenger seat
100 amp circuit breaker used for trip (short circuit)
Battery isolator switch in engine bay
Aluminium battery tray hold the battery
Front of chassis fully strengthened and seam welded
New lower arms
New ball joints
FK fully adjustable coil over suspension, painted up yellow

Brakes
New brake pipes run through the engine bay with new barake pipe securing clips
Good-ridge braided hoses
Vauxhall astra 2.0l 16v front brake upgrade
Callipers cleaned and painted up silver
Drilled, grooved and vented EBC turbo discs
Fast road pads

Interior
Cobra bucket seats x 2
Sparco harnesses
Rear seats removed

ive had a few people pm me about my coilovers, i didnt pay that much as my mate has got too much money and didnt like them as they had gone slightly rusty (surface rust) so i took his c20let engine out of his corsa fr him and gave him some cash too, ive gotta wack it back in for him too but its not hard at all! all i did was wack em on the buffer and cleaned them up, then mxed up some paint and gave them a decent coat....job done!

oh and Koorsa.......hoping to get around 280 by the summer.....then in the winter it will be having a tubilar manifold, garrat turbo and other goodies fitted! i would do it now but ive spent far too much on it so far................and ive got a holiday to pay for!! so the big power will have to wait till next year!!!

your not doin the usaual just wack the engine in job are you? could be bad news as alot of the c20lets have had a hard life!! id rebuild it to see more power and reliability!

Im hopeing to be able to use my corsa gsi rad, but i have a secret cooling weapon.. lol



its a remote hi flo stat, 87 degree stat (so its the correct temp) but due to its larger size allows water to flow more easily, reducing the bottleneck effect that happens at high rpm at the stat opening gap... Something the lotus elise boys use when they track em, and got the thumbs up. easy to fit, simply remove your stock stat, and cut your rad hose and fit it in place..

for a proper decent alloy one its lookin like its going to be just under £300 but they will custom make it to fit where they originally fit and will also add any tubing where needed for any hoses......? i think thats quite a good price for a custom rad!! should help to keep it cooler too!!

abit more progress, with the m-tec kit here i couldnt wait to get started so firstly the tie rod lowering kit was fitted! that consisted of tapping out the mounting bolt threads to m12x175 and fitting the lowering kit to the lower arms also, then i converted the gearbox to 2 wheel drive and fitted up the mount, the gearbox had to be drilled and tapped in 4 places, which i didnt like doin just incase it went wrong!! then a bit of paint on the mounts as they came in a greeny colour and fitted the gearbox upto the block!! made a few adjustments in the engine bay, now all i need to do is await saturday to come and get the engine in!!!! cant wait tho!!!

Right then updates for you!! a big hurdle was over come today.............AT LONG LAST THE ENGINE IS IN!!!!

This week has been very busy, converting the gearbox, tapping out the chassis, painting up the mounts etc,etc but finally the time came to get the engine in!! So off i took it to my work, put the m-tec mount kit on.........positioned the engine underneath and put it up in place, few small mods needed to be done, e.g. the amal valve bracket had to be cut off as it was touchin the brake pipes and few other bits and bobs but it went in really nice really!! also got the main loom wired in for the alternator and starter motor so here are a few progress pics!!

ENJOY! Im very chuffed with the outcome and how it looks hope you like it too!!!

My mate took it there for me and belive me it was a tight squeeze on his trailor!! and he caped it in mud down his farm track!!! tut tut!!!

cheers for the replies so far! my aim is to get the engine absolutely gleaming so it may look like a bit of a shed on the outside (for now) but when i pop the bonnet people will be amazed

going to do a few more bits today e.g. plumb some pipes in etc but now need to get on the phone and order more stuff!! hybrid turbo is next on the agenda along with the mocal oil cooler........should get them within the next few weeks!!
