Few pics of my corsa turbo project

lol...............at that point i had been sanding for ages and my mate had already masked up the doors (doh....bless him he dont know) so i just pulled out the throttle cable and the clutch cable and masked up around them so they are ok, but i think i need to change them anyway, just not sure wot cables ill need yet!

u cheeky git u told me to mask the bloody doors up should of done the whole car tho

ive welded a few bits and bobs but nothing major!!

new update.......removed the engine from the calibra today. whilst i was at it i removed transfer box and gave engine a good de-grease and steam cleaned off the sump and box ready to be cleaned up properly for painting!

next on the agenda is to paint up gearbox and overhaul parts of the engine....

ok then updates for the engine.........basically wanted the inside of the engine to be reliable so i decided to stip it right down and check everything properly!! here goes with the pics then

missed a few stages, but here it is bolted to engine stand, with the head off.....

now the good bit, making it look nice, and getting ready for the rebuild



thats it ofr now, am spraying the gearbox today, took me 4 hours to clean it up tho with wire brush ends on a drill!!

no i just used engine enamel in a tin, i also using it on the gearbox, but i am spraying it on the gearbox with a airbrush kit, will post pictures later on of that, i think it looks really good, just like new

core plugs are still in the block and they look in good condition so im not going to disturb them, i will paint them silver tho

going to give the block a couple more coats today, will post pics of gearbox tonight too

............ive only got a before and after shot mate! just de-grease it fully, then go over it with a wire brush, then go over it with a wire brush on the end of a drill, its not a 5 min job tho!!

Note the marks on the box is just water as i went out and my mum couldnt lift it





looks like new now!! also took time to mirror polish the clutch cable clamp......WHY???? lol

Good progress.

Have you changed the speedo ring on the gearbox yet?

nope not going to bother with the original speedo! im going to get an electronic one from america, but will use the road angel for time being!

right alot of progress over the last couple of days, paid a visit to steveboyslim and got myself lots of goodies

here are the part i have recon coscast head, cosmetic metal head gasket, stud conversion kit, new rings, new mains, new big end brgs, new big end and main brg bolts, new inlet and exhaust gaskets, new front and rear crank seals, new camshaft seals, new cam cover gasket, new uprated metal oil pump gasket, other various o-rings etc

so far i have fitted the new piston rings, new main bearings and bolts, new big end bearings and bolts, refitted the oil pump and timing belt back plate and fitted my stud conversion kit, off in the garage in a bit to rebuild my head

the paint i used was off of ebay, a place called classicago sell it, (search engine paint....£8 a tin) its basically engine paint. i didnt brush it on tho, i sprayed it on with an airbrush kit and it gave a really good finish!!

as for when the engine is goin in, maybe a little while still as need to get uprated clutch and new flywhell, few other bits and bobs and the conversion kit!!! also need a front mount etc, i want it on the road for march ideally!!
