F28 will require new gear change set up, new spacer plate to rear mount, possibly new fly wheel and clutch (somebody correct me), need a 2 wheel drive conversion plate fitting, gearbox drlling and tapping out for mounts, new cv joint on n/s urmmmmmmmmmm think thats bout it, so youll be looking at quite alot of cash!!!! then of course your gunna want a LSD in it like im getting there £600 fitted too..........£1500 should see you to get one in but that will be with a cheap arse clutch and flywheel....... my clutch and flywheel alone were £700

i agree f28's cost alot of dollar to put in! the syrocs are like chocolate and there just to heavey for a fwd corsa! thats why i'v gone with quafie straight cut gears atb diff in a f20 casing. with 5th lenghened to top speed of 160. basically same ratio as the f28's sixth gear. gear kits are about Ј1200 plus Ј490 for diff off steveboyslim.
no it ain't mesh ya chav!!!!!!!!!

ive got an f28 in mine and i love it but to change from a standard crappy f20 will cost alot, but wud be worth the money.........either way as most people on mig say F20's arent really any good for let's but to change to summat better (either f28, or same spec f20 as wilkogsi) is gunna cost you quite abit!!

yeah i agree i had an f20 in my corsa let up untill 3 months ago , after going through 4 f20 boxes i finally had enough paid 300 for a very low mileage f28, then 60 for 2wd conversion plate, i went for an uprated clucth 400 i think it was then mounts of chris astley 50, tie bar lowering plates 50 1600 head bolts 20 for now lowered tie bars modified linkage cut and welded, i fitted it so saved money there but still cost me 800-900 to put it physically in there etc but well well worth it i hardly notice the difference in weight only around 10kg and motorways journeys are far more enjoyable, if people are worried about weight then you should'nt have fitted a bigblock engine! 10 kg is neatherhere nor there i am planning on a diff soon in the next 2-3 weeks as i will soon be going form phase 2 to phase 3.5!
buut i would recoomend the f28 over an f20 all day its miles miles superior then the f20 unless like wilkogsi you have spent proper money turning a choclate box into a reliable one!

so the moral is that the standard F20 is no good for a decent powered let.......i no a few people that have them in there and they just refuse to listen to me!! let em keep changing the boxes i say, it will be the only time they dont want it to break that it will give up!!

i would have thought a high mile f20 that has been attached to a callibra towing god knows how much stereo equipment and other crap weighing it down straining the box would be weaker than one that has been treated well
my mate runs a good f16 in his corsa let and has had no problems whatsoever

but it wouldnt fill me with confidence having anohter f20 especially an f16 connected to the engine i was always constantly listening for whines and crunches etc always waiting for a gear to strip when ever i gave it some beans, with the f28 that worry has gone and i can enjoy the car knowing that its very unlikely that the box is gunna let go! but some people may have had good experiences with the f16 f18 and f20 boxes but after having 5 boxes and breaking 4 in a big way i would have thought i would have got at least 1 good box out of the 5,

ill jump in on the f20 debate

my astra turbo had an f28 with quaife diff..
my corsa turbo has an f28 with standard diff..
my xe nova (230bhp) has an f20 with quaife diff..
my newly aquired courtney let nova has an f20 with quaife diff, runing 220bhp.. and has lasted since it was built in.. 1994!!!

Ive heard of plenty of people demolishing standard f20's with 200+bhp but with a slip diff i think the box is ok for the job! the nova let is lovely and quiet, no whines or crunches and puts the power down quite well!

The diff isn't the weak point in the F20, its always the gears that strip so having a different diff wouldn't make the box stronger.

Most people start having problems when they are running more torque and bhp anyway, mine lasted ok on an F20 at standardish power but when I decided to go phase 2 I knew I would constantly be afraid of breaking the box and being stranded somewhere.

its the torque that kills most things not the bhp!!
