I think you should get the matt black rattle cans out on the skirts and bumper inserts. Really freshened up my old GTE. The black works well with the red too!

Couldn't agree more Benn. Black is wrong, not to mention that soon 98% of the paint will flake off leaving you with a nightmare trying to sort it out again.

That looks really good Dan, hope your finding it every bit as much fun as you imagined it would be. Paint has come up beautiful, my brother tried similar on his red GSi which was resprayed at the front after a small knock, hasnt quite worked as well as that though.

the front bumper inserts are only about £20 per side from Vauxhall, the rears arent supplied anymore which is really really annoying

Tis a beauty, looks amazing after being polished.

Yeah. No offence, but I thought the clear ones looked bloody awful, very out of place. I don't find the orange too offensive on a bright red car anyway, so back to standard it went!

I do, however, love the later spec headlight warning chime and the VW wiper relay, that's the only sort of 'behind the scenes' mod I'll allow, like the central locking remote and uprated dampers.

Ahhh yes, I did wonder if you'd notice those... I couldn't stand the original buzzer, and the wiper relay is brilliant.

Abit of work at first look but going down you've done a great job, much the different car

What sort of rust treatment did you use is it conventional or something from behind the counter?

Great job on the colour match, what was used to get the orange peel down D/A with 1200 1500? I'm rubbing down my car down in 80/120/240 then primering then rubbing back in 800 then paint.

    charlie:
1200,then 1500 by hand, nice and wet and soapy,
    then polished up,

and why are you 80ing then 120?
why not just 180,then primer it?
and 800 to rub the primer down? yeah what was i use as well,

and think the rust stuff we use is like strong over the counter stuff,
    just very strong stuff,
