Nova SRI - Long term project

Hi, some of you may know my car, belonged to "Ollster" on here. He took it off the road in late 2003 for a major rebuild.
A pic of it before the rebuild:

The shell was resprayed, Then had harry hockley strengthening kit fitted, and the engine bay and front inner arches resprayed.
He had fitted a c16xe etc but never finnished it and got it running, and decided to break the car.

I bought it as basically a rolling shell with no seats, exhaust, engine, suspension, brakes, fuel tank etc etc

So i continued the project on (now jan 2006)
In jan 2006 i had just got the current nova:

This involved a repair to the pass chassis runner, roll cage holes, welded up. bassically tidying all the bits you dont see.

All the insides of the doors, and arches got epoxy resign poured in (this is the tried and tested method of preventing them going rotten, as it stops water from getting trapped between the 2 skins, and gives a chemical bond to the skins, worked on my last nova, and mates novas )

Suspension components paintednote the nice group A bilsteins Also fully polly bushed )

Install wiring for front fogs (fitted to give factory look, using proper switch etc), Cat 1 alarm, Cav mk3 DID, Third brake light, bonnet light, sound system, boot release etc

Modded cav mk3 DID, and flame red painted heater controls (pictured in my last nova, but kept for this nova)

painted brake servo, wiper motor, fitted silicone tubing for washer jets (which got colour coded aswell) Single wiper conversion from modded nova linkage. strut brace fitted.

F13 CR Gearbox freshly painted, also made a fully rose jointed linkage, but no pics)

Heres a pic of the gsi bumpers i got painted Opel something?? silver, paint code 13u (its an anthracite type colour) but i think its too light (wanting to replicate std plastic type colour) SHOWN ON MY LAST NOVA.

    OPINIONS ON THE BUMPER COLOUR??

Also made some shortened door mirrors, by cutting approx 30mm out of them, then plastic welding back together. There finnished and painted, but no recent pics of them at the moment.

It then went to the bodyshop to get a tiny reapir done on the drivers sill (at the middle drain hole,) and get the front wings painted, and rear arches stone guarded and painted.
Was there for about 2 months (bodyshop v.busy, and i was in no rush etc)
Then when i got it home i was changing the engine in my corsa, so another 3 weeks went by.

Then re-fitted the dash with all controls lit with led's (heater controls lit red, other controls white, Gsi instruments with sri white speedo/rev counter fitted lit blue fading to red)

Last week i prepped the underside of the floor pan, zinc primed, then stone guarded it.

inside of the brand new GM front wings:

256mm brake disks fitted, painted reconditioned calipers and braided hoses to go on.

    Masked up:

Then my first experiance of spraying 2K
    Front wing - first coat

Overall VERY pleased with the results !!

Have anthracite Gsi bumpers, 16" speedline allessio 2's, magnex system all to go on, and the plan engine wise is a c16xe on motorbike bodies, aiming for 140bhp ish, maybe more. So the car will handle well, be reasonably quick, imaculate condition, with enough comforts and gadgets that you may get in a newer car

    what do you all think?

    thanks guys.

Gearbox is just silver hammerite brushed on (was gonna spray it, but the g/box castings are pretty rough anyway)

New Gm front wings came with the shell, they were purchased from vauxhall about a year ago i think? Ollster will know as he bought them.

progress been very slow. Fitted black plastic fuel lines from a saab aero (instead of what would have been rusty metal ones)

Waiting on unions and a flaring tool to re-do brake pipes, then i can re-fit fuel tank, pipes etc, rear beam, rear suspension, front brakes and braided hoses.

Then waxoil the hell out of all the chassis legs and sills whilst its still nice warm(ish) weather.

MAY be getting an engine in next 3 weeks or so, which would be ideal as the car will be ready by then.

Still need some front seats (Red/Grey sri preferably, would consider some nice red buckets. have std red/grey sri seats with v.good material, but the frames are damaged as they were bought from a crashed nova)

cheers. Progress may have been slow before, but has been halted now - broke my shoulder, so no car work for at least 6 weeks (no heavy lifting for 3 months)

well pissed off as i had this week booked off work to get the car done - not to mention the pain everytime i move

Bummer! Hope you still manage to get little jobs sorted in the meantime. Just re-looked over the pics. The underside is going to look really sweet with the tank & lines etc all mounted up.

yeah, well annoyed, but what can you do. ive another 6 weeks minimum before i can do anything again, but im not gonna risk breaking it again trying to fit the fueltank or something
so will just have to take my time, and really get stuck into it at xmas/new year, should be easilly finnished by next easter (well at least on the road, will prob never be truely finnishedlmao )
