Well i've had 7 in total now since i passed my test 6 years ago. I'm going to buy a sensible diesal car in april 2007, and just play about with the nova.

I should still be into them, the whole reason behind finding such a good shell was so i can try to keep it for as long as i can. Reason its going to take so long is because i'm not rich, i dont have rich parents, and i dont own a credit card. So everything has to be saved for.

My main problem is i'm a picky bugger. So a £500 respray and second hand parts wont do. They have to be new and the paint has to be perfect. Its a major downfall really as i actually build my cars to enjoy them by driving!

    Tiny update -

Whilst at Autovaux in wakefield, i purchased some manifold studs and nuts for the turbo engine. To my supprise they had some of the proper manifold studs left, when my local vauxhall said they were NLS!

My wishbones are with a local engineer now getting strengthened, will have some pics of those when there finished.

I've sorted some passat bearings for my hubs. Just need to source shafts etc now to complete that!

I paid £1510 off an ebay auction. The guy i bought it off got it for autotesting, but didnt have the heart to strip it. It cost me about £150 to get home to NI.

I would love to put it away somewhere, as i have another nova with 12k on the clocks i can use, but i only have one garage and it was bought for the purpose. However it will still be very very clean and a proper show can when finished, So should still be appreciated.

yeah, and some support tubeing between each plate. So the balljoint will go on top and the tie bar at the bottom.

Maybe? But group A rallycars have this done, and its recomended when fitting a LET.

Same could be said for a shell thats been strengthened with the plates etc.

The idea behind the strengthened TCAs & polybushes etc is that the less movement & distortion under hard acceleration will result in a more consistant tyre contact being maintained & better traction as a result.

Good find on the studs Keith! All points towards the kind of attention to detail you are going to pay your project.

exactly how iv done mine, much stronger and much less movement and play, all polybushed, just remember to strengthen round the bottom arm mount well and the front chassis legs under the car floor, job well done, brings back memories from when i was doing mine

I had 3 Novas, my daily driver got stolen whilst in belfast visiting the girlfriend at uni. So i started driving that silver one above when it at 4k on the clocks. Then when i decided to build the turbo nova i bought the blue 1.4 and was back to 3, but then stripped NDZ 1331, so i'm back to two now. GTE rep daily, and IJI is the turbo project!

    Oh how confusing!! lmao

Now that the runabout is totally finished. Its time to concentrate on the turbo project. Big thanks to Alister for giving me his spare cool running thermostat.

    Should keep the LET cool

I promise some big updates will come before x-mas.

Well folks... tiny update, doing a bit of pre-christmas spending, and thats all i can afford until after x-mas!

Mount to weld to the chassie leg, and bracket to mount for 6 speed box.

Front engine bracket to drivers chassie mount, and rear spacers, to space the engine across.

And finally, the Chris astley (or harry hockley copy) Chassie strengthning kit. Loads in there, didnt remove it all.

Next update will be a trial fitted engine, and welded up bay.
