sooooooooo expensive!!!!! HH are like 300 quid or summat cos they are proper ones
i am not going for tas or similar eccentric topmounts cos they break regularly and wouldnt last 2 seconds on the roads (not round here anyway lol)
didnt think tas were actually that cheap, but they are also http://www.motorsportparts.co.uk/topmounts.htm for 156
Do people really break these often? How? They are billet alloy, they look real strong! Or are people on about the bearing in them? Yeah thats how much they are from TAS. I phoned them and played stupid, said can you help cos I dont know ANYONE who sells them, the woman said they could send me some direct for like £150 inc VAT and delivery. The Rally Design ones seem real cheap, too cheap? Is anyone running these and do you have contact details for rally design please.
yup, tarmac 205 i know broke 2 sets in just over a month lol and that wasnt used on the road!
that now runs adjustable rods and fixed alloy top mounts and its been fine since. the joint in the fixed ones is loads stronger. this setup is what i am doing to mine at the mo.
the cheap topmounts arent on the www.raldes.co.uk website and (pricewise) they sound like ****e
So the eccentric ones are weaker in some way than the concentric ones? To be honest I dont really want to have to adjust the camber as its not really causing me a problem but I thought for the bit extra I would get the eccentic ones? You see the trouble is that I have just fitted my spax coilovers and my standard top mounts creak when I turn! Either the bearing or rubber has worn I think? It only creaks when its under load too, its fine when I steer in the air...
I've got a set of the Rally Design ones on my Astra. They look exactly the same as the TAS ones, but are 30 quid a side cheaper. Replacement bearings cost more or less the same from TAS and Rally Design so i can't really see how TAS justify charging so much more for the whole thing.
There shouldn't be any diference in strength between the eccentric and concentric mounts as they use the same bearings.
I can't really comment on durability as the car doesn't get used on the road but it has done a couple of dozen sprints and hillclimbs with them without any problems.
You may have a problem if you don't want to adjust the camber or castor as it's imposible to retain the standard geometry with eccentric top mounts.
Anyone help? I read that Nova handeling thread, kinda helpfull but a bit over my head...
