By fitting a "Power Boost Valve". I know that the name isn't the best way to describe this and that it's only a adjustable fuel pressure regulater, but i was wondering if there's much point in one. I strangly remember some one saying that a normal GSI fuel pressure reg was at 3bar and a turbo one at 3.5 bar, is this right? Would i gain any thing by fitting a turbo one or am i just wanting to waste time and money?
Because the car has a lambda sensor wont it be closed loop?so the boost valve will be trying to richen the mixture,whilst the lambda sensor will be doing its damndest to make sure it dont
What will you gain from raising the pressure?
Lower mpg mainly.
Power boast valve is rising rate, so it increases pressure more when under decent vacuum. Therefore it can help richen mixture when it's needed. All the same, if you're running the right fuelling to start with then you'll not gain much if anything.
the later GSIs (motronic 2.8) have 3 bar FPR. earlier ones have 2.5 bar
I thought it wouldn't richen mixture much if its set around 3 bar (like stock) but it would help with throttle response as the pressure rises 1.7 times faster??
I bought it, I stalled it, I've had it in my car for over 2 years...............................................................................................................and I still don't know what it does for me
i had 1 in my previous car (corolla) together with a cone filter, and it did seem to deliver better throttle response. without it, the cone filter was giving me terrible low end torque/response, with the PBV installed, it seemed to be much better.
I have been told my standard FPR (2.5 bar - Cream injectors) has been crushed to increase fuel pressure.
Would this explain my overfuelling at high revs?
