Hi I'm making a new charging circuit for the alternator and starter. I have the starter sorted can anyone help me with wiring the alternator ? Thanks
well there's the thick red wire to the thick red cable on the starter.
and the thin blue/white to the dash light
is there a third wire? do i need the battery light fitted for the circuit to work? i have already fitted the big red cable to the starter and it wont charge
How would I go about wiring up a battery light? It's in. Track car with no dash
The bigger terminal just needs to be connected to the positive terminal of the battery. As the thick one from the starter is on the same route and is dead chunky, you can simply join these two.
The other, smaller terminal is used for the battery light. This goes to the bulb on the dash, the other side of the bulb is connected to a 12V ignition switched supply.
You NEED the bulb for the alternator to work.
The alternator itself needs to be grounded to the engine block, or straight to the negative terminal of the battery.
They're there, in their room.
Cheers for the replys. What fuse would I need for the charging light?
You don't, the bulb acts as a fuse.
They're there, in their room.
