I just posted this on mk3oc but thought I'd give it a shot over here.


Ok I need some ideas on this one as its confusing me now plus I would like to use the car for a long trip soon!

Astra Gsi c20xe dizzy

So I start the car and within mins the temp goes right into the red, so I thought could it be my 82 degree crappy eBay thermostat! So ordered a new OE one last week and fitted it. With NO change.

Put in new CTS and new temperature sensor and NO change.

Did a continuity check on the wiring and it's ok.

Read a bit in the manual and then thought on the voltage regulator on the clocks so switched that from another set of clocks with no change.

Now for the really funny parts, if I disconnect the wire from the sensor the temp needle stays in the red.

Also some times of I turn off the cat and leave it ten mins and start it then it shows 95 degrees then up to temp the fan comes on and takes it down again.

When the temp is on 110 the pipes are cold but then heat, thermostat opens heats the rad, when the thermo switch hits 95 then the fan comes on like usual.

When at 110 degrees I switched on the fans inside the car and the temp came down a little bit once they are off it goes up again.

Long post 'I know' but need some ideas with this.
