My Driver's Heated seat not working why?

My arse is getting frozen, the driver's seat heater switch when pushed briefly lights up but won't latch the heater on? whats the technology behind this switching, is it on a timed circuit, does it only come on when the heated rear demister is switched on as well?

haynes manual doesn't tell much, or is it just an on off switch without any time delay incorporated in it, can't see any relays being used for it, so could my switch be just faulty, as it seems to light up each time you push and when let go the light goes off, and the seat remains cold, on the other hand i saw the light came back on a few seconds after I pushed the witch and the seat stsrted to get hot.

might just simply be a faulty switch.

plus is the heater circuit on some kind of thermostatic control or could it end up roasting my arse!

perhaphs it is a MICROPROCESSOR driven system and its software might have got bugs or viruses?)

Re: My Driver's Heated seat not working why?

They could be, although not 100% certain, In Haynes manual the circuit appears to be associated very close to the rear window demister circuit and could possibly be timed through it, and then there are other circuit wiring lines which join between the two,and the radio, either these are the lines for the illumination lamps, but I didn't have enough memory left to study it in depth! getting old and running out of memory!!

I will try what the batman said. (lol) i.e. swapp the two switches over, as I said my driver's switch clicks in, the light comes on and as I let go the light goes out and then on some occasions the light comes back on after a short delay, I tried this and it did exactly that twice, then the third time I tried the light did not come back, so could well be a playing up switch.

Any voltage at the plug under the seat?. Also check the pads for continuity. Also check the cable for the back pad where the seat hinges

Re: My Driver's Heated seat not working why?

Thanks guys, turns out to be a faulty intermittent switch, had its own mind when to come on and when to go off! I did a swapp over and the problem went to the passanger side, so a new one will be ordered soon. Thanks for everyone's help.(BEER)
