X16XE knock sensor

Hi
just got hold of a new style knock sensor for my x16xe and it is not
the same as the old one, the old one is a single wire and the new one
is a 2 wire. the thing is how do you wire it to a single wire one.the
garage did not give me a wiring diagram ?//

Just needs an earth, that's all it is I believe

Hi where doo you put the earth wire as it has a bolt through the middle,
and the two pins have been metered and they dont seamed to show anything
they are not even a loop ?

you will need the plug to fit the knock sensor, and it will have the wires on it, one of them will need to go to earth, the hole is just to bolt it to the block

Exactly, doesn't even matter which wire, one of them goes to the nearest earth point. The old type earthed itself on the block....

ok thanks all. I will be cutting the plugs off them both so i can use the single wire plug and
will earth the other

Hi iam sure if that is correct went to vauxhall garage today with it, and he said one of the wires
went to earth but when he tested it he did not no what one was the earth on it. so any one ells can
shine a light on this may be with a picture ????

Been digging through the schematics of a X16XE engine and it describes a knock sensor that uses three wires (although it doesn't say whether these are two actual wires and one earthing on the block)

One wire is brown/green and is a coaxial shielded wire, which could explain a little misunderstanding here, you thinking it is a single wire...

The knock sensor appears to have a round connector socket on it and it seems there are two circular contacts and probably the earth drawn as a wire in the schematics is actually the metalic body of the sensor connecting to the block..

I couldn't tell it all for certain as I've never had the plugs or sensors for a X16XE in my hands...
