    corsa digi dash help

Okay I've wired up a digi dash in my corsa xe but have a few problems occured and need some help.

    1. The light is dim all over and hardly visiable, how can I make it brighter?

    2. If I wire the indicator wires up they buzz from the relay but if I flick either side on there is no relay noise

    3. Brought a new gear drive for a f20, plugd the transponder in and its about 20mph out, showing 60ish when doin 40

    like its stolen, nova

    Re: corsa digi dash help

had similar problems when i put mine in the nova,
speed problem i flicked the red switch on top of the dash and sorted that out,

mine was very dim and couldn't read things in the daylight but whilst driving it it suddenly got bright and has stayed that way,

as for indicators mine did same, turned hazards on and stopped buzzing but indicators didn't work so only wired it up to one side if i remember, i no i only have a light on when i indicate left not right

Same sort of problems i had a few years ago, as above try switching the red switch. Only half of my clocks used to go dark so i hit the top of the dash broad with the palm of my hand and it would light up again lol

    Re: corsa digi dash help

Check you have the right bulbs in the back of the dash - they are 433T 5w 12v halogen. Some people put in normal dash backlight bulbs to save a few pennies - you need the proper halogen ones.
If you do, then disconnect both green wires with grey stripe from the white plug - the dash should run at full brightness then.
Indicators should be wired to the indicator stalk not the existing dash loom
Red switch at the top possibly for the speedo or you could use one of my pulse converters to correct the speed.

    Re: corsa digi dash help

i do believe the lights in the back are the correct ones.
i drove in the dark with no lights from the dash board to get it home from my mates house.
is there any certain wires from the loom you have to mix/match for the lighting, as there was no lighting at all and wonder if i have them on wrong or not even connected.
ill do the red switch and if that doesnt sort it i will come to u for the pulse converter,

dom also do you have a diagram that you use for people to get them custom colour ribbons as once this is all sorted ill like a new colour scheme made for me if that is still possible.

    Re: corsa digi dash help

If you disconnect both green wires with the grey tracers (or is it grey wires with the green tracers ?) then the dash will be at full brightness all the time - to be honest with you, you don't really want it any dimmer than it is really lol. It is these two wires that trigger the relay inside the dash and switch between full brightness and the brightness controlled by the dash dimmer switch. By leaving them both disconnected it just runs at full all the time.

I don't do the colour change kits any more I'm afraid.

    Re: corsa digi dash help

Also when I lookd at the wiring, from the speedo end of it, I had 3 wire, 1 black (connects 2 transpoder), 1 green, 1 red.

The red n green where nt connected 2 anything or showed they needed to but I had connected these up 2 matching wires, do these actually need connecting up or should I unattach them?

    Re: corsa digi dash help

What colour wire/s give the petrol reading? I believe its the blue/black wire but there was 2, I had 1 of them connected and all it did was the box that surrounds the petrol sign was flashing then I d/connected that and connected the 2nd wire identical and it gave a reading of what maybe correct or false, so I was wondering do they both have 2 be connected aswell.

Ill d/c them dimmer wires 2moro also try the red switch if I can find it, where exactly is the switch on the back?

    Re: corsa digi dash help

The red switch is at the top of the dash on the PCB.

If you have a speed sender with a red, black and green wire then thats not the original plug for the sender - its probably one of the similar plugs that someone has grabbed from the door loom of a cavalier. What does the speed sender have written on it ?

The speed senders normally have a brown, black and blue/red wire which connect to the corresponding wires on the dash loom.

The petrol sender connects to the blue/black on the white plug on the dash.

    Re: corsa digi dash help

The speed sender has AK written on it.

could it be the orignal wires are too short so they have added extra wire then instead, what ill do is go and look,
dom is it possible to get your mobile to call from the car at all? and then i can tell you what i have matched on these wires at all, and u can tell me wrong/right please.

    Re: corsa digi dash help

Looking at the grey/ green trace wires they were already cut n taped up and still the lights are dim, and at night the dash is pitch black, ordered some lights from vaux, but I was wondering should I have them wires seperated or would thet get brighter if I connected them together, as I remember in my r5 I had to connect them together and bypass the dimmer switch on that to get a bright light. The lighting on this dash is so dim,

Did the red switch and instead of been 20mph over, its now 20ish lower,

So dom, how much are ur pulse convertors and how easy 2 put on?

    Re: corsa digi dash help

Pulse converters are £35 including postage and only have 4 wires to connect.

Grab one of the backlight bulbs out and put a picture of it up - we'll be able to tell you if its the right bulb. If both grey/green wires are cut then you should be at full brightness.

Does the dash go totally off when you turn on the lights at night ?

I think the next step is to see what bulbs are in there and if they are working properly bud.

    Re: corsa digi dash help

dom can you pm me the full price for the pulse convertor, and p&p along with your paypal account please.

and using this convertor will 100% sort it out? how does it work may i ask.

flicking the switch just made my speedo out either 20ish over or under the actual limit, so im hoping this convertor will do the job for me

    Re: corsa digi dash help

If its incompatible with you car / you find its a different issue to what you bought it for etc.

Basically if you find you don't need it in the first 30 days then you only lose out on the return postage - you get a refund for the unit if you send it back.
