Egr valve problem

had my vectra C 2.2 petrol plugged in today no faults wer found. think the egr valve is playing up because idle is a bit low, i took it off and gave it a bit of a clean and it help but very little. can any one shed a bit of light on whats going on here am i right in thinking its the egr valve?

Egr shouldn't alter idle, that would be ICV, ditch the EGR blank it off but leave it connected to the loom, just tuck it away somewhere, take off your ICV and clean it with some carb cleaner

ok cool, what could i blank it off with, and is it ok to do that?

Blank it with metal cut to the same shape, easy to do just leave the original metal gasket on, and it's fine blanking them, I think they do more harm than good and it's just part of the emission control system, I don't think they make any difference on older engines TBH

Metal needs to be about 6mm thick at least for blanking plate or someone on here might have one

where is the icv? might sound a dumb but i aint delt with a problem like this before

would the egr be giving me an air leak by chance

Sorry read other post, didn't realise they don't have an ICV, if it was leaking air it would normally rev higher not lower unless it was severe in which case you would hear it

heres the problem; if i give it a big rev it wont come down to idle as it should it'll drop really low then go back to normal and if i take it out of gear when driving it wont go back to normal idle it'll stay up untill the car stops moving.

mabe i should just strip down the throttle and clean every thing, i had a look in it the other day and its quite gunky it shouldnt be like that should it???

They get a bit dirty because of the breather but it's worth cleaning it, maybe it's sticking
