Removing abs unit for track day use

    Hello,

I want to remove the abs unit for lightening purposes and better feeling for track use.
The car is a vectra a / vauxhall cavalier mk3 with a 22mm master cylinder.

Can this master cylinder can work without the abs unit?
Also what I need for the rear brake bias?

Do I need a adlustable valve like this willwood Professional Motorsport Parts, Spares & Rally Equipment from Rally Design or I can keep the std reduce valves on the rear beam?

    Thanks

The master cylinder will still work but you will need to re make pipes for rears to run one single pipe to rear then put a bias valve in the car for better adjustment of the rear, the fronts will need to have the unions joined together or make new lines for front as well

    Yes, it's a solution.

But I think because the brake circuit passes from abs unit again and the feeling in braking it's not the same as a circuit that don't passes from abs unit.

Also when I disconnect the abs fuse I feel that the braking in rear is more than optimal propably because the car is lowered and gives a oversteering feeling in braking before turns.

And last if I remove the abs unit probably I will save 8-10kg of weight in front of the car.

But as you said it can be done also with this way. Better is to try how I like more the car in track. With abs system or without it.

How about fitting some bypass valves?

yes pretty much, saves ripping the abs unit out every time you track it, just the expense of the valves and the aggro of fitting them

Re: Removing abs unit for track day use

I think that if I want to keep the abs unit, I need two bypass valves like this one. Because the std brake circuit have two channels, one for front left with rear right wheel and a second for the front right with rea left wheel. So if I want to restrict a bit the rear wheels braking I need two bypass valves to make the job and keeping the abs unit.

I will decide when I will drive the car in track to see what will be preffered.
    Thanks
