Astra Gsi Mk3 Intercooler Questions

looking to fit a intercooler to my mk3 astra, but wanting to keep the fog lights, can anyone tell me dimentions of the intercooler i should run, i know some cutting and shutting is also needed on the front crossmember, i can sort that out.

what is a good cooler to buy aswell? tx autosport do a kit but i don't really approve of anything they make, as alot of it is cheap poop!

i used a frontera cooler on mine only modding needed was shaving a bit of the back of the bumper fitted nice and it was black so stealth plus it was runing approx 300bhp

ah i should of mentioned need it to be good for about 350 bhp, wana buy whatever it is brand new too

ah ok not sure on the frontera coolers limits? hks or the likes but i think you might struggle to keep your fogs? could you not have the outlets altered/moved to suit? i am sure there if plenty guys on here that could do just that for you just something else to look at if you cant find what your after of the shelf

my mate runs a toyosports front mount on his mk3 omannage to keep the fogs but had to bend the front tow eye up a little for boost pipe to fit

if its in your budget why not get a custom made one to your measurements, then it will be exactly as you want it.

yea i am thinkin that, i know talking to the guy on the forge stand he said make one from cardboard and send that, i am thinkin that is the best bet, just wondering roughly what size i will need to flow 350bhp, poss better off sending them an email

i measured it all for my corsa and sent a detailed blueprint type thing, if you want i can send you that to give you an idea, mine is huge tho, they said they've made smaller and are running over 800hp easily, i imagine the size of mine would be good for around 1500hp (really rough ball park)

Universal Intercoolers

I bought a "medium" size about 3 years ago for my MK3. I'm running a GT28 with 340bhp with no intake temp problems what so ever. Infact, the Dyno operator commented on how good my temps were

I still have both my foglights too.



Heres where it sits (roughly, as it was taken when the engine was half out the car!!)

although it does look a little wide as u seem to be running the offside boost hose around the slam panel rather than through?

Sorry for the slow reply, yeah I cut a fair bit out the bumper to make it fit. I did originally have the pipework pass either side of the radiator but the way it is now is not as tight and easier to get at on the occasion a hose pops off. Make sure you get decent mikalor clips to hold the silicone joiners if you're using them, they make a huge difference, only very occasionally I'll get a hose come off now.
I bought mine through their eBay shop but that was 3 years ago, don't know if they still have one or not

hmmm possibly a bit too big that cooler then. I'm lookin to not cut Anythin out of the bumper. Do you think the smaller cooler will be big enough to flow 350bhp? I just need to know the sort of size i will need so i can mock one up and see if it fits

you'll struggle to get a cooler that will take 350hp and not have to cut anything buddy, pretty tall order tbh.

found this on the bay.... universal cooler

says it takes 350bhp

1 is not as wide as cmac86's, so pipes should go round the rad nicely,
2 just the right height to cut the front panel out and fab some brackets
3 all coolers ive seen are 65mm deep

and the bonus of coming with pipes which i may be able to use.

what u guys think?
