    Rose joint arrangement and sizes?

I have some calibra arms that have been converted to run rose joints insted of the usual rubber bushes, when i got this setup it only came with one rose joint

all the joints on the front and the two inner ones on the rear are the same size, the one rose joint i have, have a quick measure and beleive them to be a standard m18 so thats not a problem,

the rear inners are the standard m18

the outers are alot bigger, a quick measure looks to me 30mm x 1.5mm thread.

now pretty sure these are supposed to have an insert, then the rose joint screws into that, bit of left hand right hand thread trickery this would alow the tow to be adjusted trackside without needing to drop the arms.

    something this kind of shape

anyone with better knowlage than me think this is the case for the m30 outer joints?

and where could i get such a joint/fitting? M30 fine outer thread and m18 inner?, work out which way the left and right threads go? and how it would be in such a way you can adjust it?

......now whilst writing this another theory occured, what if it needed something like the arrangenment of a astra/cav/calibra steering/track rod end? a double ended bolt, left and right thread, then use a female rose joint

but why them make the hole in the rear arm m30 (so big)?

out side look/track slag experience/anyone with an idea needed

have a look at mongos e30 thread on vauxsport, hes used that style of adjuster. Personally there are a number of things about the way the rosejoints have been arranged on those arms that would stop me wanting to use them...

its a posibility, but its got to be left hand thread which will be tricky.

Re: Rose joint arrangement and sizes?

Is that an off the shelf part? when I saw it I immediately thought a large bolt which has been drilled and tapped. Obviously drilling on a lathe is the easy bit, will a local machine shop have a left hand thread tap suitable?

ive found some in the US but all imperial. so looks like they are avalible, will have to have a proper measure just to make sure what sizes and threads are, but not found anything in this country yet.

i have had a look through their site as thats where i was told to get the rose joints from, but couldnt find them listed, but seems it is their line of work so i'll have a proper measure up and drop them a line.

Biggest supplier I know of, used them a lot.

Far too many of the threaded shanks are in bending. looks like theyve beefed up the rose sizes to get thick enough shanks but its a bodge.

Re: Rose joint arrangement and sizes?

struggeling with this now tried the places suggested but no joy. many google searches no joy,

i think i'm going to have to settle for getting a bolt and then drilling and tapping the centre out to m18,

But the problem im having is i need to source a LEFT HAND threaded m30 x 1.5mm bolt. any ideas and i cant find anywhere. i can find a die that size but they're 30-40quid and only going to use it twice

    ideas?

Re: Rose joint arrangement and sizes?

Surprised you can't find, tried looking for rod end bearings? since rose joint is a trademark and probably a lot of places won't call theirs that because of this.

For the bolt, you could turn one on a lathe I suppose, be better than trying to cut one by hand.

Why not give a drawing (or pop in for a chat) to a precision engineering place for a quote, they will be able to cut the thread on a lathe.

agree with alistair, the rear joint is on the wrong plain, even compared to standard.

Re: Rose joint arrangement and sizes?

still struggeling on this if anyone has any ideas, cant find any bolts in that size, found a few chinese dies at around the 33quid mark but they dont look too clever, found a couple in this country for between 75-150quid, which is alot. tried all the local fasteners places and they just gave me a blank stare, tried one engineering place i found local bit they couldnt do it,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

almost concidering drilling it out and welding a common thread bung in there?
