    C20xe wiring loom

Hi i have a 1997 calibra that had an ecotec 2ltr in it and im doing a conversion to put a c20xe redtop in it instead. Ive just been removing the engine loom but noticed on the xev loom it splits into two bundles of wires heading into the car. One is the ecu plug and the other goes to some pink relays. Noticed the loom on the xe doesnt split off to take these relays and was wondering what they were for? The xe is out of a 1993 calibra originally

    Re: C20xe wiring loom

The two purple relays are the ECU controlled ones for fuel pump and some sensors. The 20XE has one bigger all in one relay. If you use a later XE it's loom would very likely simply plug into the 3 connectors in the driver's footwell.
    They're there, in their room.

So what would i need to do with the xe loom to make sure the engine runs properly? Would i have to rewire some of the relays into it? Because the pink relays connector goes up into the dash?

Not entirely. The loom for the XE is pretty self contained. I've not played with an Ecotec Calibra, but I assume the ECU is in the driver's footwell and there's 2 or 3 connectors near it?
To make an XE run you only need 12V from the battery on the thick red, 12V ignition switched (black) and fuel pump (blue/red) connected to the same coloured wires on the car.

Ahh much simpler than i thought. Yes theirs a couple of connectors near the ecu and theres a lump of other wires at the other side of the car in the engine bay that links to the battery. Would i have to wire it into the xe loom? Or just remove it completely? I think it connects to the abs unit and such?

On the xe loom, which wires are for the fuel pump and where do they connect to?

fuel pump wire should be above the gearbox then, red/blue wire of medium thickness.

Need to run it inside to the drivers footwell

Is it on the engine loom? And do you know where the lambda sensor plugs into? Cant seem to see where it goes to?

On the ecu loom where it connects to the engine/car loom on either the retangular or large round plug.

Early 20xe do not have a lambda sensor or plug.

    Re: C20xe wiring loom

The only place it connects is through the distributor/coil as far as i can see? And theres a thickish red coming off the engine/ecu loom, could it be the live for the ecu?

Ah, this manifold mustve been off a later 20xe
