I have blackstuff pads with ATE Powerdisc grooved discs on my mk2 Astra which also had the annoying squeel, but after several hundred miles they went completely silent!! Give it some time to break in, trust me!

    Exactly!

I suppose if a clapped out shed does it it sounds crap but when I see something serious rumble up on stiff suspension with massive squealing brakes I do a little sex wee. It's like fire extinguishers and bonnet pins - awesome on right car, ****ing stupid on Saxos.

Try filling a chamfer in to the leading edge of the pad, worked with my M1144s.

Higher performance pads tend to be harder, and so there's less damping of the pad vibration.
As said, it can be cool on the right car.

    Re: EBC Red stuff Squeal

Lots of funny jokes guys, but apparently they changed from a metal sinter compound to ceramic kevlar not so long ago. These pads are mucho grande better!

I've seen some old stock clear outs with the older Redstuff pads for bottom prices, so it's probably true indeed.

    From here:
LMF Vauxhall - The Vauxhall Parts Specialist...

This material is a KevlarŪ fibre based brake compound, enhanced with ceramic particles. If you have previously tried EBC redstuff (pre-ceramic compound) this material is light years ahead. It lasts longer, it brakes better and is quieter. Being a hard wearing pad, bed-in times can be as long as 1000 miles and drivers must be patient until the pad takes up the shape of their disc (brake rotor).
Don't know which ones the TS has? If it's the newer pads might still need the 1000 miles run in...

I see, and how are the sounds doing?

On a side note I really wonder how much less harming kevlar fibres are in pads compared to ancient asbestos, I work with kevlar quite often and cutting it with scissors (glass fibre fusion splicing) and it stings like *** when bits are left on your skin. Just like glass wool etc. can't be healthy!
