Nova bonnet release cable - removal

Bonnet release finally snapped today. Got it open no problem but how the hell does the handle assembly come out of the car? The cable goes through a solid plastic hoop as part of the handle assembly so I assume the whole lot has to come out?

Haynes manual is as much use as a one legged man in an arse kicking competition.

After much swearig, cursing and skinning of knuckles I found the two small tabs on the back that need pressing in to slide the handle assembly out. Can't get a new one anywhere now so it looks like a trip to the bike shop is in order.

None that I can find on ebay and NLS at Vauxhall. Considered one of the "breaking" ads on ebay but it could be another rotten one that turns up if I were to buy one from there, and I'd probably end up paying £15 for it!

Local bike spares place can't do a cable long enough, so ordered a Corsa one from the dealers for £20. The handle assembly probably won't fit but I can always chop the end off and attach the old Nova one with a new nipple.
