mk4 astra van goes flat and then power comes back iny ideas?

just had a mk4 astra van turbo diesel around town seems to be very flat and not much power and when on the motorway a light come on the dash which looks like a car with a spanner coming out of the roof. when this come on it's like i lose all boost but will go off a few minutes later and will pick back up any ideas what this could be anyone any help would be great thanks

The same happened to me and i couldnt find the fault, So i converted my van to petrol and put in a V6.

You need to read the stored codes off with a reader - you'll be plucking at straws otherwise.

Would i still be able to get the code read without the light being on Dom? as light don't stop on long enough to read. thanks

Most ECUs store the last codes flagged.
