Wiring up management light with no speedo?

Ive just put a x20xev engine into my mates nova track car.The cars fully stripped out with no dash or speedo.
Engines running standard ecu for now and we`d like to wire an engine management light up so we know when something goes wrong and so we can do the paperclip test.
Does anyone know if we can do this and how its done? Maybe using an indicator bulb or something?
    Thanks guys.

Yeah just wire up the ecu light wire to a bulb, and the other terminal on the bulb to 12v.

will no speed signal connect to the ecu you may get poor idle and the ecu light reporting no speed input
