Z18XE Still not Running Right running out of ideas

Car has a missfire just before 3k revs and looses all power it will kangaroo throught the missfire pick up again then just go into limp mode

Have replaced:
ECU - Was sent away and told couldnt be fixed
Engine Loom - That was Vauxhalls suggestion
Crank Sensor
Cam Sensor
All new vaux parts

Also AFM for autovaux
Second hand Throttle body

is it worth swapping coil pack?

What else can I do

coil packs do break down, so yes its worth tryini a known good one.

So have you got a new ECU?

Can you test a coil pack off the car with a multimeter

Yes band new ECU

Spare coil pack in garage did nothing

Seems to be the Cam sensor it runs more or lees the same with it unplugged. The pully looks fine and its all new after that

usually a faulty cam sensor gives a limiter at 3k ish but wont let it rev past that

Its a brand new sensor though and I have tried two other second hand ones so pretty sure one of them would have been ok. Is there anything on the pulley that that can go any magnets on it?

Is this the engine with the ECU on the inlet manifold? Tried the yellow wire mod?

This to do with the AFM this is one a the few fault codes I dont have but will have a quick search

There's a mod for the wiring to the coolant sensor.
It breaks down over time, and is related to the cam sensor wiring too.
What fault codes do you have ?
(Got a Z18XE with loads of fault codes too, ECU I think)

maybe the camshaft sensore wireing is split car side, have you checked the fuse board?

All wiring is new around the engine.

Any more info for wiring mod will it really benifit me as all my wiring is new. So could a fault coolant temp sensor muck up timing too

Mini update had a guy round with tech 2 software and he phoned his mate on the vaux tech line. He came up with 2 sugestions 1st is the blocks are expanding to a piont where the sensor can no longer read the trigger wheel inside the sump and advised taking 20tho of the block face.
2nd the ebay throttle body looked a bit suspect but cant be 100% sure while the car is throwing up so many fault codes.

So doing the block mode what sort of gap should the sensor have between it and the trigger wheel so I could stick a feel gauge between the two and sand it down a bit

Looked inot going old style with the crank sensor on the crank pulley but they are 3 pin sensors where as the new one is a 2 pins sensor

Any one else heard this also while searching other posts not many people put a "finally fixed post up"

what faults are you getting with tech 2?

how do you know your spare coilpack is not faulty?

Yes and 20 thou is nothing but worth a go can always space it back out after if its wrong

Tech 2 says cam crank throttle faulty and replace ECU( all new apart from throttle)

I know the coilpack is unkown but would this not come up as a fault also if it was faulty would it put it into "limp mode"

Shame the software cant isolate a sensor to see what it is or what its not reading

does sound very odd though, especially if tech 2 is showing faulty ecu, could you not try another one?

throttle what?

high voltage, low voltage, open circuit?

Sorry dont the actual codes and the engine management light has actually gone out now for the first time

Cant try another ECU unless I get key chips and ignitoin transponder

Cleaned face of sensor mount tonight made sure I hadent left the old rubber seal in place and it was running slightly better

You will get cam and crank trouble codes if the timing is out..

timing is spot on as I put a new cambelt kit on. One thing I have to check on is wear around the keyway for the crank pulley thats been mention a couple of times
