Astra mk4 gsi Alarm and starting problems help?

The Alarm siran on my gsi doesnt work. I take it that it is another horn like most other vauxhalls.
Were is the location of it so i can change it to see if it is that?

Also when i brought the car. On start up you would turn the key and it would fire straight up, rev itself abit and and settle fine. Sometimes now it crancks over and struggles to start and the revs sit very low. So its trying to stay running. So you have to give it abit of a rev then its fine.
Hard to explain really but what could cause this?

    Many thanks

There is the alarm under the scuttle panel and the power sounder under the passenger fronrt arch liner, what engine is it?

Surely you are only pulling it one way though? ie. you are pulling it along its length.

No, your "peep peep" horn will be under the bumper NSF. your power sounder is under the OSF arch liner.

The powersounders always seem to die.

As for starting it could be something as simple as a tired battery, or maybe try a new cts if its only when cold. If it's lumpy when hot maybe afm, if it's all the time the stat could be stuck open, and is annoying the ecu, so check your temp gauge.

Are the "powersounders" a horn? If not is there another vaux with the same thing on it? IE Vectra?

Re: Astra mk4 gsi Alarm and starting problems help?

Ive just looked at a 1.7 Derv ive got out the back. Is this unit like a ECU? Ive found two. One up in the corner near the top of the wing/door and one near the front of the bumper. Both on N/S.

O and my horn on my car is O/S just behind the bumper.

Anyone got a pic of what im looking for?

I hant got a CTS in the yard with a white plug, only blue ones

Ok cool it looks like a siren. Should be able to spot that
So have i got to buy a new one of these or do other vauxhalls have the same thing?

Re: Astra mk4 gsi Alarm and starting problems help?

Ive found my power sounder. Looks like the above.
Ive found that when i disconect the battery then re conect it, it will then go off.
Ive also tryed a Vectra one (Unsure if working) but nothing happend.
My problem is that it doesnt go off when the alarm is going off.

I undone the window and locked the car. Then set the alarm off. The indercators flash but no power sounder.

Is my power sounder broken or is the problem elswere?

    Cheers

It not ment to go off when the alarm go's off, its ment to go off if the battery is disconected during a robery attempt.
