Astra H heater fan problems!!

My Astra this morning started doing a very strange with the climate control, when I got to work and switched off the ignition the fan was still running, I tried switching the engine on and off a few times which didnt work, I did notice that adjusting the manual fan control had no effect on the fan speed, its like its stuck on about number 3, I didnt have to time to faf about with it so just prayed my battery wouldnt be flat when I finished work, which it wasnt and the fan had gone off, started it up and its still stuck on 3 about 3, no matter what the display says or if I switch it to windscreen demist or the temp to high which usually puts the fan on high, the display says the fan is on high though, and again when switching off the ignition its stayed on again, erm any ideas???
